The Sports Medicine & Performance Association (SMPA) has been established in response to the need for support for medicine and performance practitioners working in elite sport.
The SMPA represents practitioners working in a professional capacity with elite professional athletes whether doctors, physiotherapist, sports scientists, nutritionists, sports therapists, psychologists, sports massage therapists and allied health professionals.

In 2010 the Football Medicine & Performance Association (FMPA) established an organization to support over 1000 practitioners working in professional football through a range of services.
The SMPA will now provide that same support for members across all professional sports including rugby union, rugby league, county cricket, golf, tennis, gymnastics, swimming and more…. all practitioners working with professional athletes are entitled to membership of the SMPA.
