RAILSPLITTER ROUNDUP -Two Decades of ExcellenceToday opens the 20th season of women’s soccer at LMU. Over those years the program has compiled a 206-127-22 record. -Season-Opening DominanceHeading into today, the Lady Railsplitters have won nine-straight season openers. In those nine contests, Lincoln Memorial has outscored their opponents by a commanding 38-3 margin. Their last season-opening defeat fell on August 30, 2003 with a 3-1 loss to Tennessee Wesleyan. -Welcome BackThe Lady Railsplitters return 19 letter winners from the 2012 squad. On offense, the Lady Railsplitters welcome back all ten players who recorded at least one score last season, paced by Savannah Pitt (Gallatin, TN) and Josefin Hedstrom (Burtrask, Sweden). The defense, which surrendered only 1.21 goals per game last season, returns five players who started at least nine games in the back row in 2012. That group is headlined by Preseason All-SAC First Team selection Sam Adams (Harwood, MD). -Taking to the RoadAfter opening the season at the LMU Soccer Complex against Asbury, the Lady Railsplitters hit the road for three-straight matches outside of Harrogate. Lincoln Memorial is set to travel to nonconference foes Alabama-Huntsville (Sept. 8) and North Georgia (Sept. 11) before opening the South Atlantic Conference slate at Coker on September 14. -Feeling at HomeOver the past two seasons, the Lady Railsplitters have compiled a 15-15-4 overall mark. However, over that same span, the Lady Railsplitters have tallied a 9-5-2 ledger at the LMU Soccer Complex. Against nonconference opponents, Lincoln Memorial holds a 12-3-1 record at home over the last four seasons. -Youth and ExperienceDespite returning all but one player from last year’s squad, the Lady Railsplitters boast a youth-laden roster. Lincoln Memorial’s roster is comprised of two seniors, eight juniors, ten sophomores and five freshmen.
