LINCOLN YMCA HOSTING 3RD ANNUAL YMCA SWIMSUIT DRIVE

May 10-23

Back for its third year, the Lincoln YMCA will be holding an associationwide Swimsuit Drive collecting new and gently used suits for youth enrolled in our 2023 grant-based Swim Lessons. Did you know that two of the biggest barriers families face when wanting to provide swim lessons for their children are transportation and cost – both for the lessons and swimsuits? Through a swimming lesson grant awarded by Y-USA, the Lincoln Y will teach more than 150 children how to swim this summer, along with life-saving water safety skills.

HOW DO I HELP?

• Drop off a swimsuit at any of our four Lincoln locations between May 10-23

• Sizes needed are youth XS-XL for boys and girls (one piece preferred)

• Swimsuits will be distributed to students attending Community Learning Centers, with lessons beginning in June

• Everyone who donates will be entered in a raffle to win a FREE session of group swimming lessons (6 classes) AND get a free week pass to “Try the Y” or share with a friend, family member, or co-worker

Thanks to all the families, vendors, and volunteers that came together for a fun morning on Saturday, April 29 to celebrate Healthy Kids Day at the Copple Family YMCA! Youth enjoyed vendor booths, a fun run and obstacle course, a cook along, face painting, and so much more.

Thank you Lincoln for voting your YMCA: Best Preschool, Best Youth Sports Program, Best Youth Activity Programs (non-sports), and Best Place to Feel the Burn (runner-up). These categories represent so much of what we do at the Y, and is what makes serving this community so rewarding!

April was Child Abuse Prevention Month! As part of our commitment to protecting the children in our community, we participated in Five Days of Action - a week-long campaign to increase awareness of child sexual abuse and empower us all to prevent it.
