Previous Branding

Successful

Unsuccessful

Looking over the previous branding I had for myself is important as it allows me to reflect on what was successful and unsuccessful about it.

The range - there is a wide range of printed material and variety of branding involved. The content - the written content is strong and shows a considered and sensible approach. The business card - The way this is made was very successful in three sheets being placed together. It created a very sturdy card.

Website proposal - while the size of the imagery is good, the overall design of the website is child-like and not professional at all. The use of colours and layout does not work well. Portfolio - the stock used in the portfolio was wrong for imagery. It did not print well and the quality was not that of something I would like to send anywhere. Appearance - The intention was fun and playful, however it looks childish.

Branding Development I have been developing the branding since the beginning of the year and continuously been updating it as I go along. My influences changed, so the design of the mark moved in a variety of directions before I eventually found the current design which is simple and effective.

It is representative of my love of type and shows that I can create a usable typeface. This typeface has been developed over a few months and has been refined to a much more professional appearance since the original design.

Applying the Brand The brand has been applied across a variety of printed materials. These are all based around the materials which I would need moving forward as a professional. These range from stationary to a mail out cv and portfolio.

Applying the Brand The range of collateral works together simply and effectively with the same placement of the logo, and use of grey and white stock, with half sleeves where appropriate. Stationary items include a letterhead and invoice, as well as two paper pads. The first is a ‘to do list’ - a lined pad where I can plan out the tasks of the day. The second is a small blank pad for sketches and ideas.

Proposed Website To complete the branding a new website proposal has been created to show how my personal website would look if I could build it from scratch. Using a simplistic layout, the focus would be on the imagery and work, showing this is a variety of image sizes and shapes.

Online Presence Throughout the year I have created an online presence for myself in the form of social media accounts and a personal website on Cargo Collective, purchasing my own domain name for this.
