DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE Greetings all. Our City is undergoing many changes, which can be difficult for some folks to handle. As many of you know our beloved longtime City Manager, Steve Schwabauer, has retired, along with other city officials who have lead our community for many years. There are things that we cannot control and inevitably with these changes each department will feel the ripple effect in some way or another. So, what should we do when we feel uncertainty and fear of the future? We buckle down and continue delivering excellent services to the community! We invest in our new leadership and support them as they navigate and come into their roles. We stick together. On behalf of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS), let’s welcome our Interim City Manager, Andrew Keys, new City Attorney, Katie Lucchesi, new City Engineer, Sean Nathan, and incoming Chief of Police, Rick Garcia. These individuals, while new to their roles, are not new to the City. We are fortunate that they have invested many years of experience and their dedicated service to the City and this community and I believe we can look forward to a stronger Lodi. As we approach the winter and spring seasons, here is a look ahead at the exciting capital projects underway for our department! • The Lodi Lake Southside Improvements Project is scheduled to start in February 2024. The parking lot has not been repaved/repaired since its inception in the late 1940s/early 1950s and with over 45,000 annual visitors the roads are now riddled with holes and damage. Upon completion damaged roads, trails and picnic areas will be restored and protected from further Register Online Today! • http://bit.ly/lodiprcs

damage, enhancing visitor experience and safety. The scope of work shall also include new paths of travel, trash enclosures, picnic tables, park benches, playground equipment, turf and irrigation improvements. • Five (5) playgrounds will be renovated soon. They include Hale Park Tot Lot, English Oaks Park, Katzakian Park, Peterson Park (East) and Legion Park. General Fund Surplus funding was allocated by Council for these replacements at an estimate of $1.6M. • Softball Complex Concession – the concession stand and storage has not been in use since 2005 due to dilapidation. It has been challenging for PRCS staff to keep the building secure from vandalism. • DeBenedetti Park Phase I and Phase II – Construction drawings are under the Building Department’s review. Bidding will occur once the building permits are issued. • Hutchins Street Square Improvements to include: Climate Control System for the indoor pool, Phase II Roof Project and Interior improvements at Hutchins Street Square – Thank you to the Hutchins Street Square Foundation for their generous donation of $152,584 to fund various projects at Hutchins Street Square including the painting of rooms and interior walls and refinishing and sealing of floors. • Lodi Lake Nature Area Fire Mitigation – Contractors for the City, West Coast Arborists and San Joaquin Sheriff’s Community Corps have been working diligently in the Nature Area to mitigate fire risk by removing dry brush and downed trees. As you browse through this activity guide, I hope that you find an abundance of opportunities for you and your family to recreate and enjoy Lodi and each other, I will see you out in the parks!

DOG PARKS

Where can I take my dog? Dogs Allowed On Leash • City of Lodi may designate locations where dogs are permitted within a park. • Leashed dogs can be on sidewalks, paved trails, roadways, designated grass areas, and in parking lots. • Please read and follow posted signage. • Each dog must be on a six-footmaximum leash at all times (no retractable leashes). • Dogs cannot be left unattended. • Dog owners must act responsibly–follow rules, carry removal bags and pick up after your dogs. • Dogs must be licensed to be in a public space.

Dogs Allowed Off Leash

Dogs Not Allowed

Off-leash areas are a great place to let your beloved pooch loose to run, play and enjoy a social environment. Before you unleash your dog within designated dog areas of Beckman or Vinewood Parks and the west side of Lodi Lake Park, please remember the following rules:

Areas remaining off-limits to dogs include the Nature Area at Lodi Lake, aquatics areas, in and near playgrounds, all sports fields, admission fee areas, shelter and picnic areas, and during special events.

• Unleashed dogs are allowed only from sunrise to sunset. • Each dog must be under voice control at all times. • Clean up and properly dispose of your dog’s waste. • You are responsible for your dog’s action and behavior. Remove your dog from the area if it becomes frightened or aggressive. • Do not allow dogs to dig or disrupt the landscape.

Lodi’s parks are multi-use - cyclists, walkers, runners, and dog walkers all share our parks. Visit Lodi.gov/PRCS for more information

• Remember that sound carries! Be respectful of park neighbors. • Make sure your dog is wearing up-to-date ID and vaccination tags. • Always carry your leash. • No more than 3 dogs per walker. • Walkers/handlers must be 14 years of age or older.
