For the enjoyment and safety of everyone, Lodi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services requires all participants to treat people and facilities with respect and abide by all rules and direction from staff. Lodi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for failure to abide by these standards.
DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE Greetings all. Let’s Celebrate Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services! Mayor Chandler and City Councilmembers proclaimed July 2022 as Parks and Recreation Month. The proclamation is an opportunity for the leaders of the community to officially acknowledge the importance of parks and recreation and the benefits it provides to the people we serve. This year’s theme is We Rise Up for Parks and Recreation and all the professionals who build strong, vibrant and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation. Let’s bring attention to how important it is to rise up and support our work, because every day, park and recreation staff rise up for our community in service of access and overall health and well-being. There’s no better way to celebrate the department than highlighting the people who faithfully serve their communities all year long. I am very grateful for our wonderful staff who are passionate about taking care of our parks and offer recreational and cultural arts opportunities to our community.
Christina Jaromay
Project Updates Blakely Sports Fields and Irrigation Improvements The State of California granted the city $882,000 to renovate 5.5 acres of the park including reconstruction of two ball diamonds, a new basketball court, sports field amenities, underground utilities and new turf. Council approved allocation of capital funding to cover contingency costs for the project. The project is expected to be completed in September. Grape Bowl Turf Replacement With increased play of recreational and competitive soccer, football and constant UV exposure, the field has been deteriorating since 2011. Work started in May and was completed in July! The artificial turf has been replaced with new upgraded turf and divots on the perimeter of the field have been repaired. Special Thanks The pool at Hutchins Street Square suffered heater failures and as a result PRCS had to shut down the pool for a period of time. Graciously, Hutchins Street Square Foundation donated funds to replace the heaters and for installation. Thank you, Hutchins Street Square Foundation, for your never-ending support to keep the Square maintained and open for the community.

Residents are asked to act responsibility, reduce the use of pesticides, herbicides, and never spray or apply fertilizers when there is a 50% or more chance of rain. “Break the Connection” between irrigation runoff and the river, and help protect Lodi’s drinking water supply and river ecosystem.

Dogs Allowed Off Leash
Dogs Not Allowed
Off-leash areas are a great place to let your beloved pooch loose to run, play and enjoy a social environment. Before you unleash your dog within designated dog areas of Beckman or Vinewood Parks and the west side of Lodi Lake Park, please remember the following rules:
Areas remaining off-limits to dogs include the Nature Area at Lodi Lake, aquatics areas, in and near playgrounds, all sports fields, admission fee areas, shelter and picnic areas, and during special events.
• Unleashed dogs are allowed only from sunrise to sunset. • Each dog must be under voice control at all times. • Clean up and properly dispose of your dog’s waste. • You are responsible for your dog’s action and behavior. Remove your dog from the area if it becomes frightened or aggressive. • Do not allow dogs to dig or disrupt the landscape.
Lodi’s parks are multi-use - cyclists, walkers, runners, and dog walkers all share our parks. Visit Lodi.gov/PRCS for more information
• Remember that sound carries! Be respectful of park neighbors. • Make sure your dog is wearing up-to-date ID and vaccination tags. • Always carry your leash. • No more than 3 dogs per walker. • Walkers/handlers must be 14 years of age or older.
