The signs of a heart attack can be different in women. In fact, some women can experience a heart attack with no chest pain at all. So know the signs. If you feel them, get to an emergency room – fast. Call 911 and count on the Accredited Chest Pain Center at Longview Regional Medical Center for nationally recognized heart care.

CHAMPIONING MOVEMENTS

Often times people ask, what is a Chamber and what do Chambers do? While there are several ways to

respond, I know we are movement makers. Movement makers are the catalyst to change. Movement makers are the conveners to get things done. This is why your chamber has been diligent over the past several years to encourage community leaders to explore the best practices of communities who are excelling in transforming their cities and regions. One of my favorite authors is Mark Batterson. In a couple of his books he states, “At some point, most of us stop living out of imagination and start living out of memory. Instead of creating the future, we start repeating the past.” He goes on to state, “The day you stop dreaming is the day you start dying.” InterCity Trips keep our imaginations alive and encourage us to dream about Longview’s future. It is critical we prepare for the generations to follow. We (the Chamber) must champion Leading People. Leading Prosperity. We (our community) must continue making the impossible possible. Fortunately, for Longview, having a “can do” attitude is not new! Let’s consider a few of the WOW moments that have occurred and continue occurring because someone led with imagination. Lear Park

It is examples like these that support the reason WHY your Chamber believes in visioning and dreaming! Recently, over 50 businesses, community and elected leaders visited Waco, Texas. Attendees took a deeper dive into the processes of how Waco has navigated the past 20 like, “What will people years transforming their community. Questions remember about you and/or your organization? and “Will you be a movement maker?” were posed to the group. Attendees walked away desiring to be movement makers. What defines a movement maker? Movement makers are dreamers, developers, executers, and evaluators. Movement makers see the possibilities in the impossible. Attendees also reflected on statements like those made by Charles R. Swindoll: “When you have vision it affects your attitude. Your attitude is optimistic rather than pessimistic and the remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.” I will close asking you a few questions. What do you care about? Do you want the generations that follow to be successful? Are you willing to be a movement maker?

It’s Time to Join the Movement!

Cyber Security Seminar Track

Cyber Crime is among the most urgent threats to U.S. national and economic security and it is increasing in scale, sophistication, and frequency. Building on the success of 2016 Cyber Security Summit, the Longview Chamber of Commerce is providing a Cyber Security track at the upcoming Business Solutions Conference on May 3, 2018. The objective is to help empower decision makers with the information to reduce risks, deter attackers, and enhance resilience. Learning sessions will include high caliber speakers encompassing national and local security experts that face new cyber challenges every day. Who should attend? • You’ve heard something about a cyber framework—you’re not exactly sure what it is—and want to learn more. • You have cyber security or risk-management responsibilities for your organization—whether private or public. • You have a cyber security program for your business and want to strengthen it. • You’re a large company looking for ways to communicate about cyber security with your small and midsize supply chain partners. For more information, contact Suzanne Brown at sbrown@longviewtx.com or 903.237.4003. Seminar Track Sponsor: Texas State Technical College Marshall ..........................................................................................................................................................................................................

Leadership and Communication Seminar Track

What better way to increase your leadership skills than by surrounding yourself with other learners at the 2018 Business Solutions Conference (BSC)! For the first time since its inception, the BSC is 100% focused on professional education and connections made inside the classroom. The goal is to create a stronger workforce by empowering attendees to grow in their professional leadership. Leadership track highlights include seminars in becoming trustworthy through “congruent” communication, and leadership planning through mentoring, training and experience.

“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” – John F. Kennedy For more information, contact Leska Parker at lparker@longviewtx.com or 903.918.1546. Seminar Track Sponsor: KLTV-Channel 7 ..........................................................................................................................................................................................................

Heatlh and Wellbeing Seminar Track

Could new health and wellness approaches to education and workforce development efforts boost economic competitiveness? The Longview Chamber of Commerce and key partners believe so and are committed to building a culture of health for the prosperity of the Longview trade area. The three-part framework for this initiative will be the focus of the HealthyVIEW luncheon on Thursday, May 3, at Maude Cobb Convention Center. In addition to the luncheon, the Business Solutions Conference will feature a Health and Wellbeing seminar track. Seminars include wellness techniques that can energize employees, as well as a deeper discussion into the framework of the initiative that will impact the workforce of tomorrow. For more information, contact Dave Jochum at djochum@longviewtx.com or 903.237.4023.
