highlighted and sourced so employees can make better decisions at the polling booths. Working together, we can help shape an exciting future for the business community and the citizens we hire and serve. It all starts with believing in business and believing that business is worth fighting for!

The Chamber’s entire past reflects our belief in business. So does everything we are tackling today and will target tomorrow.

We believe in business!

It’s important we do a better job of telling our story! That is why we are producing Coffee Conversations with Kelly. Each month Chamber member CEOs, company owners, and managers will be receiving a short video discussing national, state, and/or local issues that impact your business and the lives of your employees. These same individuals will also be receiving a link which will direct them to a flyer that can be shared with employees, friends, and family.

We Believe in Business...

We Believe in YOU!

“ Mid-market employers are increasingly looking to hire new employees and raise wages. Coupled with the benefits of enacting pro-growth tax reform, this is very good news for the economy and American families.”

THE NATIONAL LENS |

– Neil Bradley, Senior Vice President and Chief Policy Officer, U.S. Chamber of Commerce

By now you’ve probably noticed a welcome surprise: a bump in your take home pay! This is one of the many benefits we’re seeing from the tax law passed by Congress late last year. In addition to helping our businesses grow, the law is delivering a much-deserved tax relief to about 90% of the American workforce. We’re glad you’re able to keep more of what you work so hard to earn every day. Keep up the great work!

market economic index developed in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics. It is designed to accurately reflect business conditions in the U.S. middle market, while providing a statistically significant measure of the health and outlook for these businesses. Each quarter, 700 executives of middle market companies across the country are polled to gain insight into how this part of the economy thinks and behaves.

Education

Career Ready Plus Certified Campus Achieves Milestone Year The Longview Chamber of Commerce’s (LCC) Career Ready Plus Certified Campus initiative at Ware Elementary is nearing the end of its first year. Several Chamber member businesses and organizations served as champions for this partnership whose goals are to significantly improve post-secondary readiness as well as reading and math scores, and increase parent engagement in each student’s educational life. LCC adopted Ware Elementary last Fall as part of a 3-year commitment with the intention to replicate the initiative over time to other campuses and school districts in our community. You may be asking why the Chamber would get involved with education? The reason is simple: today’s students are the future of our workforce and the vital key to a thriving economy. In response to a nation-wide skills gap, it is not enough to worry whether they are college- and career-ready after graduating high school. In fact, it is imperative that we start working with students before they even reach junior high. The cradle-to-career focus includes health and wellbeing, career exploration, educator support and appreciation, incentive programs, and parent engagement as just some of its many facets.

platform for important knowledge and skills transfer. Additionally, engaging and supporting parents through a free 13-week program called Raising Highly Capable Kids helps them understand how to make better parenting decisions and encourage their children’s success in school. This directly impacts the student, the school, and the community.

We feel that empowering kids with knowledge about the many career opportunities in our community is important, as well. This year, 2nd5th grades each toured local companies whose operations complemented the TEKS they were learning. 5th graders also had the opportunity to engage with local businesses leaders through a Career Showcase on their campus. Additionally, encouraging them to read by offering incentives not LCC recognizes that collaboration with other key agencies and only helps improve their testing scores in every subject, but also sets them organizations will bring about the needed changes at a faster pace and up for better job success in the future. with more effective results than if we worked in silos.
