PRAISE FOR ACADEMY CHRISTMAS SHOW SUSPECTED THE Chair of Ecclesfield Parish Council, Cllr Garry Weatherall, was invited to attend Chapeltown Amateur Operatic Society Children's Academy Christmas show at The Venue in Stocksbridge recently.
ROBBERY IN BURNCROSS
Cllr Weatherall said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to this event. The children put on a cracking show and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would like to give a big thank you to Julia, Tony, Sophie and Rita and all the Children who were involved in the show.
OFFICERS in Sheffield are appealing for information following the reported robbery of a 52-year-old woman in the Burncross area.
“I would also like to wish Chapeltown Amateur Operatic Society a very merry Christmas and happy New Year from all at Ecclesfield Parish Council.”
At around 8.45pm on Sunday December 9, it was reported that the woman was walking home from the Acorn pub on Hollow Gate when she was pushed from behind. She fell forward onto her face and sustained minor facial injuries.
Members and staff of Ecclesfield Parish Council would like to wish all residents of the parish a merry Christmas and happy New Year.
The victim believes that two men were involved, one of the men held her down as the other took items from her before leaving the scene and running towards the Bridge Inn pub.
Ecclesfield Parish Council would like to offer their thanks to anyone that kindly donated a gift to the Hallam FM Mission Christmas. Clerk to the Council, Tara Ball, said “This is the first year the Parish have acted as a collection point for this fantastic cause and it has been a great success.
A diamond ring, titanium ring, Samsung mobile phone and a Tag Heuer 2000 stainless steel strap watch were taken. The watch, which has sentimental value to the victim, has a broken clasp.
“Hallam FM are aiming to deliver to over 25,000 children across South Yorkshire your donated gifts and due to your generosity, a child that could have been at risk of not receiving a gift will now wake up to one on Christmas Day.”
An investigation is underway including reviewing CCTV and officers are carrying out local enquiries. Were you in the area at the time? Did you witness the robbery?
All donations have now been dropped off at Hallam FM, but if any further gifts are handed in then they will be dropped off in the New Year and passed onto children’s homes or kept in storage for next year.
Have you been offered any of these items? Please call 101 quoting incident number 869 of 9 December 2018. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Council offices will be closed from Monday December 24 until Tuesday January 2.
