Zum Beispiel im Café Colette (79 Berry St, Brooklyn, NY 11249), das stilecht mit einem Takeout Coffee Window aufwartet, gibt es in der heimeligen Atmosphäre von shabby chic morgens Brunch und abends Steak. Das Café Moto (394 Broadway, Broolyn, NY 11211) besticht mit einem lässigen Interieurmix aus Sepiatönen, Metall und umfunktionierten Radteilen. Perfekt zum Kaffee: die Grilled Donuts mit Zimt und Zucker. Das St. Mazie (345 Grand St., Brooklyn, NY 11211) ist besonders gemütlich: Schließlich absolvierte der Besitzer während der Planung eine Ausbildung zum Yoga-Trainer.

In the cosy, shabby chic ambience of Café Colette (79 Berry St, Brooklyn, NY 11249), for example, with its typical takeout coffee window, you can enjoy brunch in the morning and steak in the evening. Café Moto (394 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11211) makes use of shades of sepia, metal and repurposed bicycle parts for its stylish interior. And definitely order a grilled donut with cinnamon and sugar to go with your coffee. St. Mazie (345 Grand St., Brooklyn, NY 11211) has an especially relaxed atmosphere: after all, the owner finished his training to become a yoga instructor while planning his bar.

Pancakes ZUTATEN: 2 Eier, 250 ml Buttermilch, 175 g Mehl, 1 TL Backpulver, 1 EL Zucker, 1/2 TL Salz
INGREDIENTS: 2 eggs, 250 ml buttermilk, 175 g flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tbsp sugar, 1/2 tsp salt
ZUBEREITUNG: Die Eier trennen. Das Eigelb mit dem Mehl, Backpulver, Zucker und der Buttermilch zu einem glatten, dicken Teig rühren. Das Eiweiß mit dem Salz steif schlagen und unter den Teig heben, ein paar Minuten quellen lassen. Nun immer einen Schöpflöffel Teig in einer Pfanne goldfarben backen. Nur wenig Öl verwenden und darauf achten, dass die Pfanne nicht zu heiß wird. In den USA werden die Pancakes traditionell mit Ahornsirup serviert.
PREPARATION: Separate the eggs. Mix together the yolks, flour, baking powder, sugar and buttermilk and stir until the batter is thick and smooth. Add the salt to the egg whites and beat until stiff. Then fold into the batter and let the mixture rest for a few minutes. Now use a ladle to pour some batter into a pan and cook until golden-brown. Use very little oil and make sure that the pan isn’t too hot. In the US, pancakes are traditionally served with maple syrup.
INGREDIENTS : 2 œufs, 250ml de babeurre, 175g de farine, 1 cuillère à café de levure chimique, 1 cuillère à soupe de sucre, 1/2 cuillère à café de sel PREPARATION : Séparer les œufs (blancs et jaunes). Mélanger le jaune d’œuf avec la farine, la levure, le sucre et le babeurre jusqu’à ce que le mélange devienne une pâte lisse et onctueuse. Battre en neige les blancs d’œuf avec le sel, puis les incorporer à la pâte et laisser reposer quelques minutes. Verser ensuite une louche de cette pâte dans une poêle légèrement huilée et laisser dorer en veillant à ce que la poêle ne soit pas trop chaude. Aux Etats-Unis, les pancakes sont traditionnellement servis avec du sirop d’érable.

SKINY: Wo sind deine Topspots? AURELIA: In Tribeca bin ich oft im Greenwich Hotel. Es ist toll dort zu wohnen und zum Essen auszugehen. Dort ist immer viel los. Auch das Odeon ist ein echtes Wahrzeichen des Viertels. Zum Wochenend-Brunch gehe ich ins Sant Ambroeus Soho und ins Mercer Hotel Soho. Das Lowell Upper East Side ist sehr ruhig und stylisch. Wer das Nachtleben mag, geht am besten ins Up & Down, Marquee, The Gilded Lily, Provocateur und in The Electric Room im Untergeschoss des Dream Hotel.

AURELIA: Man muss unbedingt über den Highline Park im Meatpacking District spazieren und montagabends das The Bitter End besuchen, wenn es offene Bühne hat. In der Mulberry Street in Nolita gibt es viele kleine Shops zu entdecken. Auch das Metropolitan Museum und Strawberry Fields im Central Park darf man nicht verpassen.
“My New York” SKINY: How long have you been living in New York? AURELIA: I’ve been living in Tribeca for over eight years now. It’s my favourite neighbourhood.
SKINY : Depuis combien de temps vis-tu à New York ? AURELIA : Cela fait plus de 8 ans que je vis à Tribeca. C’est mon quartier préféré.
SKINY: What are your favourite spots here? AURELIA: In Tribeca I often go to the Greenwich Hotel, an awesome, buzzing place to stay and enjoy a meal. Also, the Odeon restaurant is a neighbourhood landmark. For a weekend brunch, I love going to Sant Ambroeus and the Mercer Hotel, both in Soho. The Lowell is a very serene and stylish hotel in Upper East Side. If you enjoy nightlife and hot clubs, check out Up&Down, Marquee, the Gilded Lily, Provocateur and the Electric Room in the basement of the Dream Hotel.

Der Brooklyn Bridge Park besteht aus einem schmalen Uferstreifen und sechs Piers, die südlich der Brooklyn Bridge in den East River ragen – mit freiem Blick auf die gigantischen Wolkenkratzer. Auf einem der Rooftops in Midtown hat man das Gefühl, über allen Dingen zu stehen.
Brooklyn Bridge Park consists of a narrow strip on the riverbank to the south of Brooklyn Bridge and six piers that jut out into East River, offering a fabulous view of the magnificent skyscrapers. Standing on one of those rooftops in Midtown makes everything seem so small.
