2014-15 LORAS COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL

DUHAWK DEN EXPERIENCE: THE KEY TO THE DUHAWKS SEASON ...

The Duhawks will be returning five seniors for the 2014-2015 season. Two of the five include returning All-Conference selections Aaron Schueller and Nathaniel Smith. Joining Schueller and Smith will be point guard Bobby Harmening, shooting guard and Luke Barry. Each of these players brings an immense amount of leadership to the Duhawk squad. Their experience will be extremely valuable as the Duhawks look to improve upon last season 15-11 record.

LORAS PICKED TO FINISH THIRD IN IOWA CONFERENCE COACHES POLL ...

After reassuring their third place coach’s poll selection last season the Duhawks will once again look to finish higher than they were placed pre-season as they were once again selected to finish third in the Iowa Conference this season behind Buena Vista and Dubuque. Buena Vista returns nearly their entire team from last season’s 13-14 campaign. Their most important returner is senior Cole Darrow who led the team in scoring with 18.9 points per game. Dubuque is a very systematically sound team in the Iowa Conference. The Duhawks swept the Spartans last year thanks to a last second game-winner from Nathaniel Smith back on February 12. This year, Dubuque returns Andre Norris, who started all 25 games for the Spartans and averaged 18.1 points per game, shooting .570 from the floor.

GORTON BEGINS 7TH SEASON WITH THE DUHAWKS ...

Greg Gorton will embark on his seventh season as the head coach of the Duhawks, entering this year with a 115-96 all-time record. Gorton will look to take the Duhawks to their third national tournament in the past six seasons and improve upon their 1511 record from 2013-2014. Gorton, along with the other head coaches in the Iowa Conference, believe the Duhawks have a great season in store for them. Under Gorton, the team has a 100% graduation rate, which speaks to the type of program he runs.
