LORAS vs CENTRAL

GAME 14

2014-15 SCHEDULE &

LORAS COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SATURDAY, JANUARY 17 • DUBUQUE, IOWA • 2 PM

ABOUT CENTRAL ...

Amid a three-game losing streak, the Dutch enter Saturday’s match up hungry for their first conference win of the season after opening the year 9-2. Central is led by a pair of seniors in Kenzie Vander Molen and Rachel Evans. Historically, Vander Molen has played well against the Duhawks and will require a strong defensive effort to shut her down. Taking on more of a facilitator role this year, Vander Molen leads the team with 22 assists. Evans has been a consistent leader on offense, the only Dutch player averaging double digit score (13.8 ppg). On the boards, freshman Jackie Kriegel pulls down a team-best 5.9 per game. A stout defensive team, Central holds opponents to less than 55 points per game. The Duhawks will have to be smart and quick with their ball movement in order to exploit a hole in the defense and cash in on open shots.

In the second half, Central’s Vander Molen caught fire scoring 21 of her game-high 30 points in the final 20 minutes. Loras forced its physicality on the Dutch, driving to the basket often and drawing fouls. While the Duhawks held control for most of the game, strong free throw shooting down the stretch and a dominating effort in the paint sealed the win.
