KUTSCH EARNS PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS FOR STELLAR PERFORMANCE WAUKESHA, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - Sophomore Kaitlyn Kutsch was named the Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, March 8. This is the first season for Loras as a member of the MWLC making Kutsch the first to Duhawk to earn conference honors. In Loras’ 12-3 victory over Illinois Institutde of Technology on Saturday, Kutsch scored nine goals, a program record, to lead the Duhawks to victory. The win was Loras’ first of the season, who had previously dropped matches to Augsburg and Midland. “She did well with finding the open net, which we know she is very capable of doing,” Head Coach Emily Goetz said of Kutsch’s outstanding performance. “Kaitlyn has been working so hard, overcoming so many obstacles, she deserves the recognition.” The highlight-reel worthy performance also set a program record for goals in a game for an individual as well as a team record of 12.

QUICK HITS DUHAWKS SHATTER RECORDS… In their last game, the Duhawks set several program records. The 12-3 victory over Illinois Tech marked the largest win differential in program history. The 12 goals scored are also a program-high. A strong performance from Claire Sheahan held the Scarlet Hawks to just three goals, another Loras record.

COACH’S CORNER Goetz enters her second season with the Duhawks as head coach. She lead the Duhawks in their inaugural season after being named the first head coach in program history on January 5, 2011. Goetz played at NCAA Division III University of Redlands in Redlands, California. She graduated with a degree in Psychology after a four year career that included playing two positions and two seasons as a cocaptain. Following her time in Redlands, Goetz helped start the program at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin as an assistant coach. While with the Lady Reds, she earned a master’s degree in Education (Counseling). “I am extremely appreciative and proud to join the Duhawk family and am very excited to get started,” Goetz said after being named to the position. “I’m looking forward to establishing a competitive lacrosse program at Loras College and believe we have all the right components to achieve success.”
