LORAS UPSET BY ST. THOMAS...

The Duhawks were handed their first loss of the season at home Sunday, September 7 against University of St. Thomas. The Tommies defeated the 3:30 PM Duhawks 2-1 with goals coming in the 4’ and 55’, while Loras’ lone tally came in the 71’ from junior Jorge Simon. ROCK BOWL TRADITION ...

Dating back to November 12, 2011, Loras had been undefeated in 29 consecutive

7:30 PM home matches. The lone blemish in that time period came in the second round

7:00 PM of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament last year, where Loras and

Luther drew at 1-1. During the 2012 season, Loras went an unprecedented 17-0 at home on their way to the program’s third appearance at the Final Four.

LORAS FALLS IN LATEST RANKINGS…

After Sunday’s defeat at the hands of St. Thomas, Loras knew their slot at No. 2 would be occupied by someone other than themselves. In the first D3Soccer. com poll of the season, Loras entered in the No. 5 ranking. Joining Loras in the Top 25 from the Iowa Conference are Luther at No. 10, and Wartburg at No. 22. In the NSCAA Continental Tire Rankings, Loras fell eight spots to No. 10, while St. Thomas went from unranked to No. 11. With their win on Sunday, the Tommies also sit atop the North Region, with Loras right behind them at No. 2.
