Loras kicks off the week with a trip to Naperville, Illinois to take on North Central College on Tuesday night. The Cardinals are receiving votes in the most recent ACVB poll but sit just outside the top 25, with an unblemished record (8-0). After a tough test, the Duhawks take on No. 2 UW-Stevens Point and No. 9 St. Thomas at the Cornell Classic this weekend.
KENTNER NAMED IIAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK ...
After her stellar performance last week, junior Kara Kentner was named the Iowa Conference Athlete of the Week as well as Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Loras went 3-2 on the week as Kenter posted triple-doubles in three of the five matches. In Saturday’s match against Monmouth College, Kentner hit .875, completing 14 kills in 16 attempts.
KENTNER, BLAKE EARN ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS…
As tournament host, junior Kara Kentner and sophomore Tara Blake earned the honor after leading the Duhawks to a 2-2 record at the invite. Kentner tallied a team-high 45 kills while hitting .433 on the weekend, without recording a single hitting error. In addition to her stellar weekend on the attack, Kentner added 69 assists, 36 digs, seven aces, and six blocks. Alongside Kentner, Blake balanced out the attack for the Duhawks. The sophomore outside hitter racked up 36 kills, good for a .308 hitting percentage. She added six assists and 46 digs in Loras’ four matches.
KENNEDY, KENTNER HIT LIGHTS OUT AT INVITE ...
Loras posted two of the best hitting percentagesin school history on Saturday morning against the Monmouth Fighting Scots. Junior Kara Kentner and sophomore Danni Kennedy paced the Duhawks attack in the convincing 3-0 win. After starting out the match with kills on her first nine attacks, Kentner finished the match with 14 kills. Her .875 kill percentage tied Kennedy’s record set last season against Fontbonne. With Kentner on the right side, the middle opened up for Kennedy allowing her to tally double-digit kills (11) for the third time this season. She was efficient in her attack, boasting a .848 kill percentage for the match.
THORNBURG SET TO ANNOUNCE FOR 2014 SEASON …
The Duhawk Broadcast Network welcomes Loras Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Jeremy Thornburg to the stream. Thornburg will serve as the voice of Duhawk women’s volleyball this fall before opening Loras’ inaugural men’s volleyball season this spring.

During the offseason, thanks largely in part to an anonymous donation, the Loras College Athletic Communications Department upgraded its hardware and technology and will now provide high-definition broadcasts of its home contests all season long.
