Last spring, Duhawk Head Coach Jenna Ness explained that the 2014 season would feature some of the toughest competition Loras has faced in recent years. She echoed similar sentiments after the Cornell Classic. “We play tough teams for a reason, the strong start to the season has helped prepare us for conference play,” Ness said. With a 4-7 record, the Duhawks are set to open up conference play on Wednesday.
LORAS LOOKING TO SNAP 4-GAME SKID IN WEEK 4 ...
Loras enters week four eyeing a turnaround. After two tough matches in which the Duhawks hung with No. 2 UW-Stevens Point and No. 16 St. Thomas, Loras looks to build off of the progress made at the Cornell Classic. Their first opportunity to get back in the win column is at home on Wednesday before they travel to the Twin Cities for the St. Kate’s Invitational this weekend.
DUHAWKS SET TO DIG FOR A CURE ...
The Duhawks host the Luther College Norse in their Iowa Conference opener on Wednesday. The annual “Dig For a Cure” match has been expanded to raise awareness and fundraise for both Breast Cancer and Leukemia. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and orange to help in raising awareness. On the concourse, fans can find several education and interactive booths hosted by local business and organizations. Additionally, Loras College Dance Marathon will be assisting “Mircale Kids” in handing out game programs. The Duhawks will also hold a 50/50 raffle in which proceeds will benefit charities including; Maria’s House, Leukemia Society, and the Visiting Nurses Association.
NESS, BROWN FACE OFF AGAINST ALMA MATER ... Wednesday’s conference match pits Ness and assistant coach Sophia Brown against their alma mater. Ness, a 2011 graduate of Luther, played for the Norse before begining her coaching career as a student assistant in 2010. Brown, a 2013 graduate, appeared in 300 games for Luther, earning an All-Conference nod her senior year. CRYSTAL-CLEAR HIGH-DEFINITION ...
