CITY IN FLUX
Inspiration from pinterest and artists/ designers
These pictures were locate on Pinterest, you can see my Pinterest account from my blog which have helped me to develop.
The way these images are simple but effective, this originally inspired me to create work like metropolis to represent the simplicity and the complexity of the city.

Eduardo

Wittgenstein
In New York 1964 Eduardo was inspired by different cities such as New York or London or Venice, he was also inspired by Dada Photomontage this style of collage and layers to create a busy picture to replicate a cities busy lifestyle.
Robert Rauschenberg- to the middle column. Edward bawden- in the right column.
David Carson
This inspires me for one of my ideas which was to create beautiful visuals out of rankings and facts of how Manchester has changed over the years. The way he uses each letter in a different way inspires me to create my own typography work.
Marscal His work is very layered and great for showing the how busy the city is. Moscow poster by Frantisek Dejmal Again this is a layered effect and using the route map of the city is an effective way of showing the change of transport.

Martin Kryzwinski
For this piece of work krywinski has used the software circos to create beautiful and colourful representations of mathematical constants for example “pie using transition probabilities and colour coded digits. His aim was to create a visual which would make a person who found maths difficult and confusion they would see it as a thing of beauty.
This has inspired me on my own idea of having facts about the city of Manchester and displaying these facts and figures in a beautiful way.
Signs are a big part of visual language within the city, they suggest directions, speed limits, warnings and instructions for road users. There are so many signs around the city, signs can be used as a whole project on its own but they can also contribute to idea of a journey throughout the city. You can also compare old signs to new signs and how they differ over time.

“In their shoes Development This is development of my idea I have taken forward it has not turned out as well as I wanted it to so I am going to change this idea slightly to make it work.
Improved Idea I decided to change my idea of showing the change of wealth throughout the city, to using shoes as a metophor for each individual who has worn them through the city to show differences in jobs and identity and this will include wealth. To do this I have taken pictures of different shoes i have collected and I will decorate some of the shoes illustrating the influence of the city on them, i will again take more photos and use these in Adobe Photoshop.
In Photoshop i will edit these photos and use them to make a booklet of poster picures, and these images will be simplified and then layered with a small amount of writing to represent my opinion of the city.
Belicta Castelbarco
I have found this designer/ artist which has used illustrator to create simplified objects which is what I am going to do with my shoes, thin she has used layers of textures for the other 2 pictures to create a complexed look which is what I think my city in flux project should portray.
Experimentation and Development
I have used adobe Illustrator to create simplified images like the artist Belicta Castelbarco and I have used Illustrator to create typography and fit it to the soles of the shoes and I have also used other images to layer the simplified shoes I created.
I have used Photoshop on the photos I took of my decorated shoes in different environments and tried to make certain colours to stand out. Also I used threshold over the original picture to enhance it.
