MØD FORFATTERNE MEET THE AUTHORS
PEDER FREDERIK JENSEN, 1978 (DK)

Parkscenen torsdag kl. 19.30
“A major work of young poetry,” wrote a reviewer of Krause’s debut Logan i Aokigahara (Logan in Aokigahara). The book builds on YouTuber Logan Paul’s video about an individual who had committed suicide in the Japanese forest of Aokigahara. It begins on a suicidal weekday in Aarhus: “the social worker/ came to pick us up one November night/ accompanied by a policeman. It was late./ She had eczema. Her hands were as pink as a new-born mouse.” The book evolves into a virtual journey on foot through Aokigahara, where the poem’s narrator encounters Logan Paul. Park Stage Thursday at 19:30
CLAIRE KEEGAN, 1968 (IR)

Each new book by the Irish author is a publishing event, and in the last 22 years she has only released four brief short story collections and novels. But Claire Keegan’s unobtrusive yet intense prose, depicting complex, ordinary lives stalked beneath the surface by darkness, is worth waiting for. There are no grand plot-driven dramas here, yet Keegan is still capable of creating “a deeply moving and universal story”, as The Washington Post put it. Keegan’s latest novel, Small Things Like These (2020), was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and made into a film titled A Quiet Girl (2022).

IAN MCEWAN, 1948 (UK)
“A wonderful author has delivered another mesmerising, memorable novel”, wrote The Independent about the author’s latest novel, Lessons (2022), which is said to be his most autobiographical novel. It has been called McEwan’s answer to John Williams’s Stoner and Richard Ford’s Bascombe trilogy – books in which historical events are reflected through the life of a single character. Since his debut in 1975 McEwan has written a number of award-winning works. Atonement and On Chesil Beach, which were shortlisted for the Booker Prize, have been made into films. Park Stage Fri. at 12:00 and Concert Hall Sat. at 12:00
