Beloved: Remain faithful to what you have learned and believed, because you know from whom you learned it, and that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are capable of giving you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

ANSWER OUR PRAYERS!
READINGS
Praying constantly for the same need can be frustrating. It's not that God doesn't hear us the first time, or the second time, or the hundredth time. Our Lord has every intention of answering our prayers. Knowing that He loves us beyond comprehension, patience and faithfulness are needed, believing that God's time is better than our time. Certainly Saint Monica could attest to this as she prayed seventeen years for the conversion of her son. And how were her prayers finally answered? The Church was given the great Saint Augustine. Certainly there has to be some discernment on our part when praying for the same need over and over; but surely praying for someone's conversion is a worthy prayer. Jesus' parable about the need to pray always is pertinent for each and every one of us. Saint Thérèse of Lisieux once said that no more than three minutes ever went by without her thinking of God. Even a passing thought of God is prayer because it's a constant reminder of our invitation to Him to be ever-present in our lives. While praying seventeen years for someone's conversion might seem exhausting, in addition to the importance of the prayer itself, the person offering the prayer is also strengthening their personal union with the Lord. Even on the busiest of busy days, pausing frequently to acknowledge God's Presence is a beautiful prayer and takes only a matter of seconds to do. In the final verse Jesus asks the question: "When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?" This question can be applied not only to Christ's Second Coming but also to our own personal last breath. Prayer requires faith, which produces an ever-growing love and knowledge of Jesus. To pray often is to seek a stronger bond of love as well as a greater desire to know Him very intimately. When the Son of Man comes will He find faith? When applied to our own final heartbeat, perhaps a more personal way of asking this question is: When I meet the Son of Man face-to-Face, will I already be wellacquainted with Him?
First Reading – Exodus 17:8-13 Here is a powerful picture of God’s people at prayer. When Moses was too tired to pray any longer, Aaron and Hur gave him the support and strength he needed to continue praying. Today the church named for Jesus Christ is a community of persons who lift up each other, and people far and wide, in prayer.
Second Reading - 2 Timothy 3:14-4:2
The followers of Christ are called to a life that makes demands on us that we cannot meet on our own. But the God equips us through his Holy Word with the wisdom and courage to serve him, which we do by serving people all around us who are in need.
Gospel - Luke 18:1-8 What does it mean to pray continuously? Certainly Jesus did not want us to spend all our time praising and imploring God for divine blessings. Rather, Jesus urged us to keep on praying day in and day out because we never outgrow our need for God’s help.
Next Sunday’s Readings (Cycle C) 30th Sunday In Ordinary Time 1st Reading: Sirach 35:12-14, 16-18 2nd Reading: 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18 Gospel: Luke 18:9-14 1

MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS DEVOTION Friday following the 7am Mass
• DIVINE MERCY DEVOTION & CHAPLET Friday 10:45 am, followed by Rosary & Benediction Devotions of the Catholic Church are ways of showing our love to the Holy Trinity, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the angels and the saints. These can be done privately or as communal, oral prayer. The Church has always encouraged private, personal prayer such as meditation, in which the mind, in God’s presence, thinks about God and divine things. The times listed above indicate when the communal, oral devotions should begin in order to allow time afterwards for meditation and personal reflection, including 15 minutes of silence before Mass begins. No group or communal prayers will be allowed outside of the schedule in order to respect the time for personal private prayer. Ministries and apostolates are encouraged to help with these devotions. Please call the parish office to indicate your interest.

JOIN US FOR FAMILY MASS st
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
rd
Family Mass is on the 1 and 3 Sunday of each at 9:00 a.m. During the Family Mass, the homily is addressed to families and to the children, giving them a better understanding of the Scripture readings. The children read Scripture that is from a Children's Lectionary. They are similar to the readings found in the Breaking Bread, but in simpler language.
Our next Family Mass will be on October 16 at 9:00 a.m.
For the last few decades, many adults (18+) have embarked on their own journey in faith through RCIA to become fully initiated into the Catholic Church. Sts. Peter and Paul Church will begin another RCIA process in September. This process is for those who are not baptized or baptized in another faith and are interested in joining the Catholic Church.
There is dismissal for Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on the other Sundays. Father will invite the children forward for a blessing. The children proceed to the reception area where a church like atmosphere is provided for them to hear the Word of God through prayers, song and readings that they are able to better understand and learn how to be disciples of Jesus. Children will rejoin their families at the Preparation of the Gifts (Offertory).
For those who are baptized and have not been Confirmed or have not received their First Holy Communion, you are welcome to join us in preparing to complete your Sacraments of Initiation.
We are still looking for Catechists and Aides for 3 th to 7 grades. If you want to learn more about your faith‌
