He quotes frorn psalm I6. peter then goes on to sa,v tllat even the great King David died and ,*,as buried to be seen no more. Other great men and worlâ‚Źn of the Old Testament also have come and gone, but Jesus who died was then honored by the Father by being raised from the dead to live forever. In this passage we have the beautif.ul itory ol. the two disciples on the road to Emmaus where thev meet Jesus but do not recognize Him. This is understandable because Jesus has been resurrected and is now in His divine "Giory." These disciples must have always seen Jesus in ttre "here and norv" without looking back at how scripture described His coming. The ,'stranger" then goes througl the Oid T'estament scriptures to point out how they 1ften referred to the Messiah; but it was in the "breaking of the bread," the Eucharist, that they finally recognized Him. Do we have to have someone continually pointing out to us how to recognize Jesus? We would like to extend a very special Mahalo to our volunteers and donors who helped make a tremendous impact in our fight against hunger within our parish and greater community. Our Catholic Care Project Brown Bag program provides supplemental food bags to those who are vulnerable to food insecurity, including our own kupuna, ohana and keiki.

Stewardship is a conversion journey of receiving God's love and returning it to Him. A conversion requires prayer, reflection and time to allow God to show us who we are, and the person of love we can become. Throughoutthe conversion experience, a Disciple yearns to change and grow into the person God created them to be - a Steward uniquely his own, but united in one Body through |esus Christ. A Steward acknowledges their many God-given gifts and in gratitude, responds to the Gospei invitation to nurture and share those gifts with
ot}ers.

together, groups that minister to other parishioners, and groups that reach out to the community. Part of being an active member of our parish is to find a place for yourself - a ministry where your personal talents can best be put to use. Reflect on your skills and interests. Prayerfully consider how much time you can commit to helping and make a connection to that ministry or proiect.
.
As a Disciple of Jesas Christ - yOA are a Steward all your twn, wilh uniqae gifts and talents to share.
This helped us produee: 74 bags of supplementalfood were distributed to 68 households who are vulnerable to hunger Each bag provided an average of L5 lbs of food to support nutrition for 3 - 5 days These Brown Bags provided a total of 612 meals at a time when they were most needed We shared an additional 100 pounds of food with the lnstitute for Human Services to support the needs of our homeless friends
ln Addition
we received Sras in donations from our April Virtual Food Basket. These generous online donors allowed us to purchase our most needed food items. The funding we received was used exclusively for our Brown Bags and allowed us to purchase dry milk for each of our Supplemental Food Bags - giving the dignity to our friends to help meet their nutritional DAIRy intake.

As a climax to a prayer that is continually offered throughout the Church, it affirms the primacy of faith and grace in all that concerns vocations to the priesthood and to the consecrated life. The 1"t sunday is ohana Mass which is an adapted liturgy where families, however unique or diverse, particularly families with members who have disabilities, worship as one ohana of God trusting in His divine providence and plan for each of us. The 3'd sunday is our Faith Formation Family Mass. During the Family Mass, the homily is addressed to families and to the children, giving them a better understanding of the scripture readings. The children read Scripture that is from a Children's Lectionary.
There is dismissal for Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on the other Sundays. Father will invite the children forward for a blessing. The children proceed to the reception area where a church like atmosphere is provided for them to hear the Word of God through prayers, songs and readings so they as to understand and learn how to be disciples of Jesus. Children rejoin their families at the Preparation of the Gifts (Offertory). Faith Formation classes will follow after the gam Mass. Registration forms for our Faith Formation classes are located at the front entrance of the Church. Please mail the filled-up registration forms or bring them to the parish office during office hours.

After celebrating a wonderful Easter with family and friends, St. Don's spent an hour with the family and children at the Catholic Charity shelter at Kaka'ako on Sunday April 23. We helped a kid with doing algebra homework, and we played with the litfle kids. We got to meet many lovety kids and it was so much fun. Our bubbles game helped them to be physically active and they learnt to count to 50 while catching flying bubbles. We got to talk to their families and we all prayed together with those who had special requests. Later we had a short meeting at 7.30 pm at Sts. Peter & Paul. Thank you everyone for joining us.
We will continue to tuior and play with the kids at the shelter on April B0th Sunday around 4-6 pm. We would love to see you there. Please note that on April 30th, there is no young adults meeting at the

Why is May the Month of Mary? It's here. May, the month in which the earth springs into bloom (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) and we start thinking about planting gardens, family picnics, and making vacation plans. It's also the Month of Mary. Having gone to a Catholic grade school run by the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, my early childhood memories include honoring Mary during May - a practice I've continued all of my life and taught my children to do as well. lt's as natural and essential to me as my morning coffee (only far, far more joy-filled if you can even imagine that). I know a number of Catholics who see May as the Month of Mary, and we all get the same question from time to time: Why is May Mary's month? Here's a brief explanation. For centuries, the Catholic Church has set aside the entire month of Mary to honor Mary, Mother of God. Not just a day in May, mind you, but the entire month. The custom spans both centuries and cultures, with roots going back as far as the Ancient Greeks. ln early Greece, May was dedicated to Artemis, the goddess of fecundity. ln Ancient Rome, May was dedicated to Flora, the goddess of blooms or blossoms. They celebrated ludi florals, or floral games, at the end of April and asked the intercession of Flora for all that blooms. ln medieval times, similar customs abounded, all centering around the practice of expelling winter, as May 1 was considered the start of new growth. During this period, the tradition of Tricesimum, or "Thirty-Day Devotion to Mary," came into being. Also called, "Lady Month," the event was held from August 1S-September 14 and is still observed in some areas. The idea of a month dedicated specifically to Mary can be traced back to baroque times. Although it wasn't always held during May, Mary Month included thirty daily spiritual exercises honoring Mary. It was in this era that Mary's Month and May were combined, making May the Month of Mary with special devotions organized on each day throughout the month. This custom became especially widespread during the nineteenth century and remains in practice until today. Marge Fenelon n cregister. com

"ir-r the most blessed 'the Lu..u,r"nt of the Eucharist bodv and blood, together with tl're soul and divinitv, of our Lord iesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained'" (CCC 1374). Every experience of the risen lesr-rs is an experience of the fullness of the mystery and, as such, must include the fact that he has been glorified through his resurrection from the dead. References to the Lord's appearances after his resurrection might be helpful here. "Look at my l-rands and my feet, that it is I myself" (Luke 24:39),lesus told his disciples. The Catechism tells us that "Christ'will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body,' into a 'spiritual body'" (CCC 999). The reaiity of the resurrection "exceeds our imagination and understanding; it is accessible only to faith" (CCC 1000).
