Saturday, April z5: 4:oo p.m. Mass: t Donna McDonnell

My mother lived for a time on a ranch in Texas. The ranch had cattle and sheep. My mother told me that sheep are pretty dumb and need a lot of care. She had great respectforthe ranch hands who patiently gotthem out to pasture and then rounded them up when it was time to come in. Left to their own devices, she said, sheep would be easy prey for coyotes, foxes, and bobcats that roam the hill country.

Sunday, April z6: 7:15 am Mass: All Families 9:3o am Mass: Confirmandee

Sheep were important for many families living in first-century Palestine as well. They provided food, clothing, milk, and a source of income.

Tuesday, April z8: 8 am Mass: t charles Ho

A good shepherd was worth his weight in gold, because he spent his days with the sheep, leading them to pasture, protecting them from harm, and finding them when they got lost. Shepherds may not have had a high social status, but it would have been hard to live without them. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, does all these things for his flock, and then goes even further: "1 came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." The ranch hands my mother talked about would have grieved over a dead sheep but wouldn't have died trying to save it. They made sure the sheep were watered and fed, but they didn't make the sheep's lives more

Wednesday, April z9: 8 a.m. Mass: t Edwin Ohta

The Bishop published a letter in the Catholic Herald that shares his vision to Reorder the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion. What this means is that the children in our Diocese will receive Confirmation on the same day that they receive First Holy communion. we will revisit our Sacraments and understand more fully their meaning. We look forward to what the church has in store for us. Father Mario and the ccD staff as well as our Youth catechists will be meeting to plan out a time line for how we will transition into this new way of conferring the Sacraments. The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace already does this as well as several Diocese in the United States. The Bishop's letter is available at the entrance of the church if you would like to read it.

should be kneeling. The faithful should kneel after the Agnus Dei unless the diocesan bishop has determined otherwise. During the period of sacred silence after Communion, the congregation may sit or kneel. Someone might sit because she can't kneel or stand. To allow for this possibiliry is an act of chariry. Uniformiry in gestures and postures express and foster the proper intention and spiritual attitude of the congregation. However, exceptions do exist. Reasonable causes for not kneeling include ill health, lack of space, and a large number of people present. But, outside of the reasonable exceptions, it's important that everyone use the samc gestures and posturcs during Mass. Ask your pastor to clariSr the instructions for the parish so you and your fellow

parishioners can maintain uniformity CIRM guidelincs.

Unbelievable were her austerities, her miracles, her ecstasies. The reputation of her sanctity soon spread abroad; thousands came to see her, to be converted by her. The priests associated with her,

having received extraordinary faculties of absolution, were unable to accommodate the crowds of penitents. She was a helper and a consoler in every need. As time went on, her influence reached out to secular and ecclesiastical St. Catherine of Srena matters. 5he made peace between worldly princes. by Gwenyth Holston The heads of Church and State bowed to her words. She weaned ltaly away from an anti-pope, and made cardinals and princes promise allegiance to the rightful pontiff. She journeyed to Avignon and persuaded Pope Gregory Xl to return to Rome. Even though she barely reached the age of thirty-three her accomplishments place her among the great women of the Middle Ages. The virgin Catherine was espoused to Christ by a precious nuptial ring which, although visible only to her, always remained on her finger.
