2 Puzzle Joint

a. Apply PVA glue on each male and female frame modules and clamp the structure together. b. Dowel pieces are inserted into predrill holes to ensure both modules are in perfect alignment. c. Excess dowel pieces have been trimmed off by japanese pull saw blade and sanded down.

a. Structures are connected through dowel joint. PVA adhesive are applied throughout the surfaces to further strengthen the joinery. b. Puzzle joint expresses the A-frame and increase the gluing surface, increase the joint’s resistance to stress compare to butt joint which incorporated in prototype I and II.

a. The footrest, backrest and supporting elements are connected to the stool structure through domino joints B and dowel joints A . b. Additional supporting elements is included in this iteration in order to provide additional support to the veneer seating. Figure II: Construction sequences of iteration 2.1.

a. 1.5mm bended plywood is staple on along the stool frame. However, face veneer where there is curvature is removed to eliminate the chance of unwanted cracks. Besides, it also reduces amount material used, indirectly reduce the construction cost.
