Welcome Packet
AGRI 1500
A LETTER TO ARC STUDENTS Dear ARC students,
We are so excited to welcome you home to LSU! As you begin this journey, know that you have a whole team of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to your success. We have some outstanding programs planned for you this fall and although things may look a little different, know that we are working hard behind the scenes to make sure you have the best experience possible. In this packet you will find some important information that will be key for your first week. Please review all information in this packet. We have very specific guidelines for your first AGRI 1500 class and students have been pre-assigned to groups with specific times on when you should participate. It is crucial that you follow these instructions and guidelines to help us provide a safe and productive program experience for all students, faculty, and staff. You will need to check your LSU email as well as our class Moodle page for additional details weekly—this is an important part of transitioning to LSU in any year! Should you need anything or have any questions prior to our first class on August 24th, please do not hesitate to reach out. You will find Dr. Martin in Blake Hall on Mondays and Dr. Prest will be available at Martin D. Woodin Hall on Wednesdays. You can also always reach out to set up a virtual Zoom appointment or a phone call, we are just a call or a click away!
IMPORTANT REMINDERS OF EXPECTATIONS FOR AGRI 1500: To make sure we have specific time for your ARC activities, you have been enrolled in AGRI 1500. This course blocks time on your schedule from 3:00 pm 5:00 pm each Monday. At our first class on August 24th, you will be provided with the links to sign up for the programs you want to participate in. Social distancing, wearing a mask, washing hands, and using hand sanitizer should be expected as common practice when you are participating in our programs. We will be providing hand sanitizer stations and cleaning supplies at all programs. It will be essential for you to be responsible and sign up for programs in a timely manner. Students will be asked to sign up for ARC/AGRI 1500 programs by August 31st. This will allow for your faculty and staff to make sure all safety and cleaning procedures are in place. There will also be very specific time frames for events so we can ensure that we are keeping group sizes within the guidelines outlined by the state as well as LSU. This means that you must be on time and follow our specific guidelines when participating. We are confident that as active members of the LSU student community, you will help us uphold these expectations. We will provide some expectations and guidelines on the events we want each student to participate in but you will have the flexibility to build the type of experience you want and what will work best within your schedule. This means you may not have a class/event every week depending on how you decide to participate but there is an expectation within the course to participate in at least 5 events in the fall semester. We will offer events that connect to each major within the CoA but we encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and participate in a variety of programs! In addition to the ARC Faculty Council representatives you will meet throughout the year, the staff and students on the following page will be your “geaux-to” team that you will hear from and interact with every week. Feel free to reach out to our team if you have any questions.

It is a community that fosters individual development and the creation of bonds that transcend the time spent within its gates. To demonstrate my pride in LSU, as a member of its community, I will: Accept responsibility for my actions; Hold myself and others to the highest standards of academic, person, and social integrity; Practice justice, equality, and compassion in human relations; Respect the dignity of all persons and accept individual differences; Respect the environment and the rights and property of others and the University; Contribute positively to the life of the campus and surrounding community; And use my LSU experience to be an active citizen in an international and interdependent world. The continued success of LSU depends on the faithful commitment by each community member to these, our basic principles.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES Students are all expected to be courteous during tours, meetings, and events, not doing things which are distracting to the guest presenters, instructors or other members of the class (including noisy late arrivals or early departures). All ELECTRONIC DEVICES should be OFF or on SILENT unless the instructor has asked the students to utilize these devices for these activities.
