MANRRS

Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences

MANRRS is a national organization that promotes academic and professional development by empowering minorities in agriculture, natural resources and related sciences. We are changing the face of agriculture by supplying the industry with a diverse pool of talented leaders. We combine our passion for improving quality of life with new ideas and perspectives to enhance the world around us. The MANRRS Chapter at LSU is open to any student on campus. Students have the opportunity to attend regional and national conferences to interact with other members of the MANRRS organization, as well as participate in professional development activities and career fairs with agricultural companies from across the nation. Additionally, our LSU chapter participates in several volunteer and service projects across the LSU and Baton Rouge community. Our goal is to raise awareness of agriculture around LSU. CURRICULUM COORDINATORS What is the difference between an "Advisor" and a "Curriculum Coordinator" in the College of Agriculture? Advisors are staff members in the Office of Student Services that assist students with course scheduling, changing their majors and concentrations, adding or dropping minors, understanding college and university policy and procedure, submitting college and university appeals, complete graduation checkouts, and many other functions. To schedule an appointment with one of our advisors, Brandon or Jennie, please do so via the Navigate app.

Curriculum Coordinators are faculty members that assist students in understanding more about their academic programs, including opportunities available to them during and after their time at LSU. Faculty advisers also assist students with course advising throughout their time at LSU. You can schedule an appointment with your faculty advisor via the Navigate app or by emailing them directly.

Working while in college is a great way to earn money, make friends and mentors, and get career-ready before graduation! There are thousands of student employment opportunities available on and off campus. Some positions require little or no experience, while others can build on your existing skill sets and serve as a preprofessional experience or internship.

APPLY TODAY

Handshake, LSU’s online career platform, is the No. 1 way college students find jobs on and off campus. You can use Handshake to find part-time and full-time jobs or internships, explore careers and job roles based on your major and interests, and learn about upcoming campus career events. University Jobs

University student employees are recognized as a student first and an employee second. This provides for flexibility to schedule work hours around your academic courses. There is a wide variety of student employment jobs available through the university and off-campus university partners, including jobs related to customer service, research, marketing and communications, operations, athletics, and more! Many student employment positions are funded by the university, meaning any student can apply. Some positions are funded by financial aid awards or scholarships (Federal Work-Study or President’s Student Aid) and are therefore only open to students who have applied, been awarded, and accepted those awards or scholarships.

Off-campus Jobs

Off-campus jobs provide all of the same careerreadiness skills that on-campus jobs offer. Additionally, off-campus jobs are an opportunity to work for a specific organization or industry area that interests you. For example, you might choose an off-campus job closely related to the type of career you are pursuing.
