GREETINGS Happy New Year! What are your new year resolutions this year? Did you accomplish the goals that you set last year for yourself and for your Key Club? Make sure that you commit to the best goals that you set out to do; it’ll all pay off in the end. I can’t believe that my term is almost over; it has been one heck of a ride! In just a few weeks, I’ll have an innie and in just a few months, the division will be under entirely new leadership. I wish nothing but the best to the future lieutenant governor whatever the results turn out to be. With that said, the Lieutenant Governor Election Rally and January DCM is on January 25th! Please be sure that you are there. This DCM is MANDATORY for all officers. Attendance is extremely important as this election rally will decide the fate of the division! Turkey Baskets was a huge success! 211 complete baskets were made at Hazen High School and around four other schools within the division participated in the project. Great job everyone! Congratulations to Kentridge High School for completing around 30 baskets based on the requirements that I previously listed. Tahoma made 8 baskets, Kent-Meridian made 4 baskets, and Lindbergh made 2 baskets! Great job everyone! You’ve all made a significant impact in your community! Points will be allocated accordingly and will be updated soon. Are you going to DCON?! Not sure what DCON is? Ask almost any previous attendee and they’ll probably tell you about how amazing of an experience it is. You don’t want to miss it! Check with your club officers on how you can register! Club officers, please check your email regularly for any updates that I may send out regarding the registration process; I’ve already sent out one about changes and resolved issues. With the new year already here, it’s the perfect time for mid-winter membership recruitment! Host a really fun meeting to attract members, bring friends to Key Club service events and meetings. Your club is what you make of it!

In Love and Service,

Alan Yeh

Lieutenant Governor of Division 32

What is the ELIMINATE Project? The Eliminate Project is a joint project with Kiwanis and UNICEF to internationally ter-minate MNT. What is MNT? In 30 countries around the world, maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy of childbirth into tragedy. MNT kills one baby every nine minutes. Its effects are excruciating– tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. There is little hope of survival. And tetanus kills mothers too. Who suffers from MNT? MNT is caused when tetanus spores, found in soil everywhere, come into contact with open cuts during childbirth. The disease strikes the poorest of the poor, the geographically hard to reach and those without health care.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT DRAGON OF THE MONTH JENNY ZHANG

CLUB: Lindbergh High School BIRTHDAY: February 13, 1997 GRADUATING YEAR: 2015 FAVORITE COLOR: Orange FAVORITE BOOK: Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes FAVORITE SONG: “Que Pase Lo Que Pase” by Los Verduleros FAVORITE FOOD: Italian food FAVORITE QUOTE: “Life is short. Drive fast and leave a sexy corpse. That’s one of my mottos.” —Stanley Hudson (The Office) GUILTY PLEASURES: Forever21.com POSITIONS HELD: LHS Bulletin Editor 2013-Present Why Jenny? She has tons of photography experience, a vast knowledge on photo-editing, phenomenal skill in graphic design, and mind-blowing creativity. Jenny started the Lindbergh Key Club Events Calendar website and Lindbergh’s club newsletter, The Toast, which enhanced communication at our school. She goes that extra mile to make her newsletters. Jenny’s even been recognized in D32 and the PNW District because of it. Every newsletter has a specific theme and design that she creates all by herself. Nobody makes newsletters like Jenny and I’m glad that she’s my my editor. She has a ton of hours and goes beyond Key Club to help. She volunteered all summer in Paraguay, giving up the finer things in life, to change the lives of the local youth. Jenny is the Best. Editor. Ever. She definitely deserves to be the Dragon of the Month. -Morgan Lucena (LHS President)

If you could spend the day with anyone (living or dead), who would it be and why? I’d like to spend it with my first art teacher, Kal Leavy. She passed of cancer a few years back, and she taught me so much. From her I learned technical artsy stuff but also how to think outside the box. We used to joke and dance together, and it was a really unique relationship! I miss her a lot! What is your spirit animal and why? A camp counselor once told me that my spirit animal was a rabbit because I was very jumpy and enthusiastic about things. That was a good 10 years ago but I’m just gonna go with it. I have ambitions to jump high, and rabbits jump high. Close enough. Why do you love Key Club? I think throughout high school so far, I’ve matured and changed a lot. Key Club has definitely played a role in that. I love Key Club because it has taught me to keep an open mind and to always wear rainboots to events involving plants. It has shown me people’s willingness to feed pizza to 30 high school volunteers (on many occasions). It has shown me relationships with some of the most amazing and diligent people. But mostly, I love Key Club because it has shown me how to care.
