Final message from Ricky Hello Division 18! I would first off like to thank everyone who sent in their newsletter articles. It has been a great year with everyone and it will definitely be one that I will not forget. For the Seniors, Circle K is out there waiting for new members in the 13 New Jersey Colleges that have one. Going to a college in New Jersey without one? Form one! For all of the underclassmen, it has been a great year but we still have another in front of us! Lets push forward and become the strongest division out there! Although this year was not perfect (not all CMRFs were handed in, not every editor reached 10 newsletters, or a roster was never sent in) there is always room for improvement. Josh Mariscal, Lieutenant Governor Elect will be taking over for me next Sunday, March 29th at District Convention. Please take the opportunity to introduce him to your new officers and you should get to know him too. For those of you who are attending District Convention, I hope to see you there as we officially end this fantastic service year. Ricky Thompson, Lieutenant Governor for Division 18

Belleville The Belleville High School Key Club has had quite a successful 2014 to 2015 service year. They have participated in the annual Thanksgiving Food Basket drive alongside the Nutley High School Key Club. This drive is run yearly by the Kiwanis of Belleville and Nutley. Each school organized a canned food drive in which students donated non-perishable, canned food items; Belleville donated more than 100 cans. Just a few days before Thanksgiving, the club members and Kiwanis distributed the items to more than eight families.
Another successful event that the Belleville High School Key Club organized was their second annual Valentine's Day Cupcake grams. They sold over 200 cupcakes to students and teachers throughout the school. This was their most successful event of the year for Belleville’s Key Club Jinal Kapadia, Belleville Key Club Editor

Bloomfield We recently had out 2nd annual Carnival Night. This is one INSERT PHOTO. of my favorite events of the year; not only do the little kids of Bloomfield get to have a night of fun, but the proceeds go to Tomorrow's Children Fund. The money we give them goes toward helping the families of and children with cancer. There were many different games such as Plinko, Chuck A Duck, Putt Putt and Balloon Darts. This year in addition to the games we had Spin Art, a Balloon Artist, and two Bounce Houses. We also had the opportunity to work with our Bloomfield Kiwanis who sold food at the carnival. It took a lot of planning and hard work, but Carnival Night was tons of fun for both the Key Clubbers and the children who attended. It is always great to see the key clubbers enjoying the event. It was truly gratifying to have some of the parents compliment and thank us for the carnival Rosy Feliciano, Bloomfield Key Club President

Bloomfield The Bloomfield Key Club's Thanksgiving Dinner is one of it's most anticipated events. This event was made possible by our Kiwanis family, who in addition to welcoming the senior citizens, provided major contributions to the costs of the food. The Builders Club also assisted in serving. The ultimate goal of the Club was to help make this holiday special for our guests, especially those who live without family to celebrate it with. This service year, over fifty senior citizens visiting from a local nursing home were treated to a banquet that consisted of turkey breast, mashed potatoes, peas, and stuffing. Volunteers engaged with the guests while catering to their needs. Homemade decorations and beautiful music played by the select string orchestra provided a festive atmosphere. However, it was the connection formed between the volunteers and the guests, the youthful and the experienced, that made the Thanksgiving dinner memorable for everyone involved. The senior citizens, some of whom were Bloomfield High School alumni, were engaging and had much to share with volunteers. I personally talked to many interesting people whilst serving them, including a former photographer who decided to start his career during his years in our school. Many of them expressed their excitement for the upcoming High School football game and other town events. This aspect of the event was the most eye opening. The Thanksgiving Dinner was one of the Bloomfield Key Club events that most demonstrates a connection to our community, bound to the people we serve in city and in spirit. St. Mary’s Midnight Run For the past two years St. Mary High School student council has ran a midnight run and this year many of the members of the Key Club were able to participate. The Midnight Run is an event were students from the school are able to help the less fortunate in New York City during the night. By preparing for this event we requested donations from the rest of the study body. The donations included toiletries, warm clothes, etc. that we handed out later that night. We meet at the school prior to leaving for the city where we prepared the clothes, sandwiches, soup and coffee. During the night we stopped at designated locations in New York to handout the clothes we have collected and sandwiches we had made to the homeless men and women of New York City. Being able to be a part of this event changed many peoples outlook on the less fortunate. They were all very talkative and high-spirited. They were all very gracious and thankful for what we had done for them. At the end of the night you felt very humble of what you have done for others and also very grateful for what you have yourself. Amanda Witkowski, St. Mary’s Key Club President
