Job description [Shanghai] Shanghai is the largest and most prosperous Chinese city. Center of finance and economics in China, it is also facing severe urban problems. Elf From the Star aims at providing a warm platform where autism children, hearing impaired children and other physically and mentally disadvantaged children can grow up healthily with love and caring.
Job you will do 1) Go to the trainee nominee taker, Beyond Autism School every week to accompany the autism kids and help them learn. 2) Assist the teachers during the music, arts, game and cognition courses in school: 3) Prepare the creative or vivid models of regular things in daily life with which to teach the kids to recognize stuff or understand some basic actions like sitting, jumping, etc. 4) Prepare a special session or show such as dancing or singing for the kids in every class. 5) Communicate with the children as often as possible and play games together meanwhile seek their talent, especially for arts and crafts; It will be the best if you can pay a visit to the kid’s home and spend some time with the family. ) 6) Volunteer in holding an art exhibition to show their talented works and raise people’s awareness of caring about those special kids. Hold the charity auction to raise fund for the autistic children and design some special derivative products related with autism kids’ artworks.
7) Summer camp: If you come in July, you are required to go travelling with autism kids together--take care of one kid with arranged buddy and take part in different activities [Caution] No taking photos (keep the kids’ privacy)
[About Art Exhibition] We will hold the art exhibition for autism kids in June and you are invited to organize and volunteer in it. All the exhibits will be the artwork of the kids. [About Charity Auction] We will hold Charity Auction for the autism kids in June and you are required to be an organizer and participants. You will need to design derivative products related to the artworks of the kids and volunteer in it. [About Buddy Program] You will be accompanied by a Chinese friend, who can solve problems and build strong relationship with you. [About you] We need you! PREPARATION REQUIRED 1)Volunteers are expected to apply VISA as suggested by the home LC/country to avoid any future troubles. Volunteers are responsible for your own visa application and extension including heath/traveling insurance and etc. 2)Air tickets , passport and any other documents that you might need for volunteering abroad 3) Your daily necessities 4) Painting tools, story books (unnecessary, depends on personal willingness) 5) Most importantly, have a study on autism kids and know more about how to communicate with them and how to help them grow up healthily; design and prepare your show in the course. 6) Know more about China and the culture; prepare yourself well for the culture shock.

Skill requirements 1) Have some knowledge of psychology 2) Have some artistic skills or at least being interested in creating new things 3) Basic Chinese language skills

Volunteers should apply for F VISA. We will provide the invitation letter to each intern after the match process. L VISA is also OK. 2)
HEALTH INSURANCE INFOďźš
It's better for volunteers to bring their health insurance to China,and you can get health insurance from concerned department in your own country or get a health check done after you come to our place(we could arrange a health check for you if you require )
Accommodation and Food Trainee House or host family. It takes 57 yuan per day to live in Trainee House. All the trainees live there together and enjoy a very international atmosphere. It is free to live in the host family but EPs need to reach into agreement with the family and obey
family regulation. In Trainee House, the food is not provided but you can cook food yourself. In host family, you can have food with the family and it is free.
