DROICHEAD ARTS CENTRE MAY 2012 Bealtaine Festival May belongs to the Bealtaine Festival, celebrating creativity as we age! Over 120,000 people now take part in Bealtaine. It is a chance for people to make new and challenging work, a chance to communicate traditions between the generations. It is a chance for the novice to discover a talent until then unseen and a chance for a long-dormant skill to find a new outlet.

Theatre : KIN by OneTouch Theatre This show simply presents the changing relationships of six people in their 40s and 50s with their parents. Using video, music and tea and toast Donna Rutherford asks questions we often leave unuttered. Tickets: €5 Time: 2pm

Belfast Girls

Jaki McCarrick’s latest play about five young women travelling to Australia in 1850 draws a chilling parallel between the Irish Famine and today’s continuing banking crisis. Tickets: €10 Time: 8.30pm

Theatre/Music: I Hear You Calling Me – The Story of Count John McCormack A magical night of musical enchantment. Featuring such musical gems as Macushla, Because, Roses of Picardy, Somewhere Voice is Calling and many, many more, this delicious musical evening chronicles the extraordinary life story of the legendary Count John McCormack. Clay Workshop for the Active Retired with artist Maureen Finn Explore different aspects of ceramics creating 2-3 dimensional pieces using techniques like coil building, slab work and modelling clay. Time: 2pm – 4pm Tickets: Free of Charge but booking necessary Venue: Barlow House, West Street, Drogheda.

Storytelling/Music: The Brewery of Eggshells on the Road This intergenerational storytelling session is suitable for children, parents and grandparents. Silver Screen Film: My House in Umbria Adapted from William Trevor’s novella of the same name, this film stars Dame Maggie Smith as Mrs. Emily Delahunty, a British romance novelist living in Italy where she encounters a train accident. Tickets: Free of Charge Time: 2pm
