Application Booklet to join the

EXECUTIVE BOARD of AIESEC in UTP 2016


Dear Leader, You are a pretty awesome human being. You are unique, talented and ambitious. Perhaps, you have ideas no-one else has, or values that everyone needs to learn from. Maybe you dream of a better society, or you know your work will make Panama a better place. You are right. At the same time you believe you can be more; learn more, know more. You want to grow, and develop yourself because that is the only way of achieving your dreams and goals. Actually, you are specifically reading this because you think being part of this Executive Board will make you a better you. You are wrong.


Being part of this Executive Board will make you stop thinking about yourself. Thinking about growing more, knowing more, learning more, being more, is helping exactly no one. Everyone around us needs you. Society, our interns, our partners, our university, need you. They need leadership. They need you to fulfil your dream. They need you to go and achieve your goals. Everyone needs you to be their leader. Ultimately, the UTP Army needs you too. We need direction, focus, expertise. We need strategies to grow. We need someone that shows us the way. We need an example and a friend. We need you to be our next Vice President. We need someone that stops thinking about him or herself, and starts giving it all because everyone around us needs us.

The Strategy In 2015, we had a huge success inside. Our committee is strong and achieving exchanges. Results–Oriented, good financial health, strong processes, several Good Case Practices. We are on our way to achieve 200% Growth in only one year by tripling our exchanges. What’s next?

Reaching outwards. We need to reach our interns and EPs, and make them go through the same challenging experiences we do. We need to reach our partners, and empower them to join our Movement. We need to reach other committees and actively contribute our knowledge while learning from them. We need to start…

The Executive Board 2016 A clear vision, and three drivers are only the starting point. What projects will we focus on? Who will work on what? When? The how of our vision is the next step, and I need my team to prepare the strategies and plans, and then execute this plan.

The Logic My vision requires a varied team of various talents and expertise. For this reason, you will first apply to be part of the EB, and then apply to a specific area. I ask you to have an open mind, because I might suggest you to lead a different area, because of your personality or skills; At the end it is obviously your decision whether or not you apply to a certain area or not.

The Stages

Everything that will happen from now until we have our six archers Every stage is designed to prepare you, while giving us 1 The Documents information about who you are. Read carefully. Wed Sep 23 – Fri Oct 2nd

3 The Voting Night Saturday October 10th, 4:00 PM

In these stage, you apply to be part of the EB in general. You pass to the second stage if you send “The Documents” before the deadline, following all the instructions given in the blue pages. Please read everything carefully.


The Challenges

Here, you apply to the area(s) you are the best for. To do so, you will receive functional challenges. You pass this stage and are a official candidate if you score more than 70% in both the Challenges and the Documents

The Voting Nights Similar to LCP elections, you will give a speech, and be in a Q&A where every full member of AIESEC in UTP will challenge your answers given in both the documents and the challenges.

Endorsement Letters One from a relative, one from an AIESECer who was or is your Team Leader, and one from an AIESECer who was or is your Team Member • Ideally 1 page each • Can be in english or spanish


Application Questionnaire PRESENTATION PAGE Must include: A picture of you, your complete name, your birthdate, your career, your AIESEC email, your phone, the link to your motivational video, and a quote. LEADERSHIP JOURNEY 1. Describe your Leadership Journey in AIESEC: what roles have you had, what were the victories and failures in each, and what did you ultimately achieve in each. Also, What have you learned about yourself in each step. 2. Imagine decades have passed, and you're now about to die. You start remembering your life, and you feel incredibly proud of what you have accomplished. Can you please describe the successes you think you had during your life? AIESEC WAY 3. Why do we place our confidence in Youth as the key to a better future? 4. We say "Leadership is the fundamental solution". What does it "solve"? 5. How do we develop Leadership in our exchanges? 6. Some people think our values should not be part of our AIESEC Way because they are not part of the why, how or what. What do you think? Why?


AIESEC IN UTP 7. How was the division of roles between oGCDP and MKT in 2015? Build feedback using a stop, start, continue table. At the end, present a concise (max 100 words) recommendation on how to improve this synergy in 2016. 8. What did BD do to have a successful second semester? What should iGCDP and UR learn from this approach? 9. What are FLA's and TM's contribution to the committee? What should improve in each for 2016? Additionally, explain how do they work together? 10. What can iGCDP and iGIP learn from each other about the way they manage Interns' experiences, and what must both improve in terms of Exchange Standards? TEAM EXPERIENCE 11. What does "Positive Leadership" mean? How does a team leader that follows the "Positive Leadership" framework behaves and leads his or her team? 12. How do you give your Team members a good team experience? Mention specific activities and processes you need to work through. 13. As an EB, one of our first activities will be to select our Middle Managers. Please describe what is a Middle Manager's role in the committee, and what would be your criteria to select effective middle managers to work with you (Your Team Members).


About The Challenges & Voting Night The Challenges

The Voting Night

In this part you will receive a functional challenge for the areas you are applying to. You will present the answers to each challenge to the LCVPc of the area, and the MCVP of the area. Additionally, you will have an interview with me.

Much more information will be given when the date is coming closer. Just remember that to be considered for EB, you must receive a “confidence vote� from the committee, meaning you must make your documents understandable to everyone. Simple, clear ideas always win.


Final Message If I choose you to be part of my team, I promise you this: I will have very high expectations of you. I will ask you to be the very best you you can be, because that will be the only way we will achieve our vision. I will be personally responsible for your growth. By being the best LCP I can be, I will always do my best to lead you to the challenges that will make us both grow. I will actively contribute so that you achieve your goals. Your goals will not only make you grow, they will make us all closer to our vision. Together, we will Activate Leadership by Empowering Others.
