LEWIS MOY-MANNING 20TH FEB - 3RD MAY


WEEK ONE I STARTED MY INTERNSHIP A WEEK BEFORE THE 11TH OF MARCH ON A TRIAL WEEK. ON THIS TRIAL WEEK I HAD TO WORK IN A WEARHOUSE IN BERMONDSEY PICKING AND PACKING THE SS13 COLLECTION TO GO TO STORES. THE WERHOUSE WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO WORK IN AS IT WAS VERY DUSTY, COLD AND CLUTTERED AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS PICTURE. GETTING TO THE RIGHT BOX ALSO WAS PHYSICALLY CHALLANGING AS THE BOXES WERE HEAVY AND AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS THIS CONSTANT AMOUNT OF HEAVY LIFITING AND SHIFTING TOOK ITS TOLL. I ENDED UP FALLING AND CUTTING MY FINGER ON NEMOUROUS OCCASIONS THROUGHT THE WEEK. THERE WAS ALSO A POTENTIL FIRE THAT I DEALT WITH AS ONE OF THE PLUG SOCKETS WAS SMOKING AND I TOOK THE PLUG OUT WHICH THE PLASIC WAS MELTING AND SOME OF THE PLASTIC STUCK TO MY FINGER AND THE PLUG WAS DESTROYED AS WAS MY FINGERS. THE WEARHOUSE IS THE MAIN DISTROBUTION CENTER FOR HOUSE OF HOLLAND AND THIS IS WEAR BIG DEPARTMENT STORE ORDERS ARE SENT FROM. I WAS GIVEN MY OWN ODERS TO DEAL WITH LIKE ONES TO SELFRIDGES, HARRODS, HARVERY NICHOLS IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND BROWNS. THESE ORDERS WENT INTO THE THOUSANDS AND I WAS TRUSTED TO SELECT ALL THE RIGHT ITEMS AND PACK THEM AND GET THEM READY FOR SENDING. THIS WEEK I FOUND THAT I GOT ON GREAT WITH MEMBERS OF THE PRODUCTION TEAM AND WITH THIS GRAFTING THEY SAID I HAD EARNT MY INTERSHIP FOR THE TWO MONTHS AND HAD GROWN A GOOD FRIENDSHIP WITH THE PRODUCTION ASSISTANT LILLY.




WEEK TWO THIS WEEK I CONTINUED WITH WEBSITE ORDERS. I ALSO DID A STOCK COUNT OF THE ENTIRE COLLECTION OF SS13 TO SEE WHAT WE HAD LEFT AND IN WHAT SIZES AND SEE IF THIS CORRELATED WITH WHAT THEY HAD ON THEIR STOCK LIST ONLINE. ALSO THIS WEEK I WENT TO THEIR PR COMPANY THE COMMUNICATION STORE TO DROP OF PERSONAL ORDERS AND FOR THEM TO LOOK AT AW13 (NANA RAVE) THE COMMUNICATION STORE IS IN HIGH STREET KENSIGNTON AND YOUR GOING FROM EAST TO WEST TAKES ABOUT AND HOUR AND HALF. I QUITE LIKE GOING TO THE COMMUNICATION STORE AS IT GETS YOUR OUT THE OFFICE AND YOU CAN RELAX FOR A GOOD TWO HOURS TRAVELLING. THIS WEEK HENRY’S MOTHER ALSO PAID A VISIT TO THE HOUSE OF HOLLAND HQ TO POP IN AND SEE EVERYONE AND HAVE A CATCH UP. I MADE HER TEA AND ALSO DID A PERSONAL ORDER FOR HER TOO. I. ALSO HAD TO LOOK THROUGH KOREAN VOGUE TO SELECT THE AREAS IN WHICH HOUSE OF HOLLAND PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN USED IN THE ISSUE TO NOTE AND THEN PUT INTO THE ARCHIVE. I WAS ALSO SENT OUT TO GET THE MAGAZINE NYLON FOR THIS EXACT SAME REASON AS THERE WAS A FULL PAGE SPREAD DEDICATED TO HOUSE OF HOLLAND. I ALSO TAKE THE MAIL TO THE POST OFFICE DAILY TO FULFIL MY ORDER FORM AND GET THE ITEMS SHIPPED OUT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. AFTER SENDING I THEN LOG ONTO SHOPIFY WHICH IS WHERE I FIND OUT WHAT ORDERS WE HAVE FROM THE WEBSITE I THEN PUT IN THE TRACKING ORDERS FOR THE CUSTOMERS AND THEN THAT ITEM GOES DOWN AS FULFILLED. HERE IS A PICTURE OF WHAT ALL THE ITEMS ARE WRAPPED LIKE BEFORE THEY GET SENT OUT.


WEEK THREE

THIS WEEK WE STARTED WITH GIFTING CELEBRITIES AND GETTING A BOX READY TO SHIP OUT TO LA FOR GIFTS TO BE SENT OUT TO THE PR COMPANIES OUT THERE. I HAD TO DEAL WITH GIFTING IGGY AZALEA AND GETTING HER GIFTED ITEMS READY TO SEND OUT TO HER HOTEL BEFORE SHE LEFT FOR HOME. I WAS GIVEN HER MEASUREMENTS AND THEN PICKED THE ITEMS OUT OF THE STOCK TO BE GIFTED TO HER. EACH ITEM BEING THOUGHT ABOUT AND TO WETHER IGGY WOULD LIKE TO WEAR IT. IGGY AZALEA HAS A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH HOUSE OF HOLLAND AS SHE WAS THE MODEL FOR THEIR SUNGLASSES CAMPAIGN AS SEEN IN THE PICTURE TO THE LEFT. CHOOSING CELEBRITIES TO GIFT IS A CHALLENGE AS HOUSE OF HOLLAND HAVE TO TAKE EVERYTHING INTO CONSIDERATION. THE HOUSE OF HOLLAND BRAND VALUES AND WHAT CELEBRITIES FIT INTO THESE VALUES. ALSO TO GET THE CELEBRITIES TO WEAR THE ITEMS AND BE PHOTOGRAPHED OUT IN THEM IS ALL GREAT PUBLICITY FOR THE BRAND AS PEOPLE WILL SEE THIS AND THEN WANT TO BUY THE ITEM AND PUTS HOUSE OF HOLLAND MORE INTO THE PUBLIC ARENA. THIS WEEK I ALSO GOT SENT ON A ERRAND TO GO COLLECT A KETTLE AND AN AERIAL. THIS WAS PRETTY GRIM AS WAS A TWO HOUR ROUND TRIP OF WALKING OUT IN THE FREEZING SLEETY SNOW. I DID NOT REALLY SEE WHAT I WOULD LEARN FROM DOING THIS AND DID NOT SEE HOW THIS WAS GAINING EXPERIENCE OF THE WORK PLACE AS THIS WAS NOT WORK RELATED OR ASSOCIATED TOWARDS THE BRAND BUT SOMETHING PERSONAL FOR THEIR OWN HOME. WHEN YOU GET THINGS LIKE THIS TO DO YOU JUST HAVE TO SMILE AND SAY ITS FINE BUT YOU KNOW THEIR ONLY ASKING BECAUSE THEY CANT BE BOTHERED TO GO OUT THEMSELVES. TOWARDS THE END OF THE WEEK I WAS SENT TO TAKE OLD COLLECTIONS OUT OF THE ARCHIVING ROOM AND IF WE HAD DOUBLES OF ANYTHING THEN IT WAS TO BE PULLED AND SENT OFF TO BISTA VILLAGE FOR SALE. THIS WAS INTERESTING AS YOU GOT TO SEE ALL THE COLLECTIONS FROM THE START OF HOUSE OF HOLLAND UNTIL PRESENT.




WEEK FOUR THIS WEEK I CONTINUED WITH THE WEBSITE AND SENDING OUT PACKAGES. THE HOUSE OF HOLLAND TEAM WAS ALSO GETTING READY TO VISIT HENRY HOLLAND OUT IN LA TO LAUNCH THE NEW EYE WEAR WITH A POOL PARTY WHICH WILL BE IN PALM SPRINGS IN CALIFORNIA. ALSO THIS WEEK THE TEAM WHERE BUSY WITH TALKING TO SUPPLIERS AND FABRIC PRINTERS FOR THE CURRENT COLLECTION OF RAVE NANA. I HELPED THE TEAM GET THE COLLECTION READY TO GO AND HAVE A MEETING WITH ALL THE MAJOR RETAILERS TO SELL RAVE NANA TO BIG DEPARTMENTS STORES LIKE SELFRIDGES. ALSO THIS WEEK A RAT HAD BEEN SPOTTED IN THE KITCHEN AND PEST CONTROL HAD TO COME OUT AND DEAL WITH THIS. SINCE THEN THE RAT HAS DIED SOMEWHERE IN ONE OF THE WALLS AND NOW IS QUITE REPULSIVELY SMELLY IN THE STUDIO.


WEEK FIVE THIS WEEK I WENT UP ON THEIR INSTAGRAM WITH ONE OF THEIR JUMPERS ON TO TRY AND SELL MORE OF THEM AS THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT LEFT OVER FROM THE COLLECTION BEFORE. SOCIAL NETWORKING IS CRUCIAL TO HOUSE OF HOLLAND AS THEY DON’T ADVERTISE AND RELY ON REVIEWS AND BEING USED IN EDITORIAL IN MAGAZINES AND BLOGS. THEY HAVE ACCOUNTS ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM AND TUMBLR. THIS WAY THEY COVER MOST OF THE WORLDS PEOPLE AS EVERYONE USES SOME FORM OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND HOUSE OF HOLLAND USE THIS AS THEIR WAY OF ADVERTISING AND WHAT IS BEST IS THAT ITS FREE. SO THEY CONSTANTLY UPDATE THESE SOCIALS MEDIAS AT LEAST FIVE TIMES A DAY. THIS WEEK I ALSO WAS TAUGHT MORE ABOUT THE WEBSITE AND LEARNT HOW TO UPDATE STOCK AND HOW TO CHANGE THE NUMBERS OF IT TOO ONLINE SO THAT I COULD KEEP THE STOCK UP TO DATE AS SOON AS AN ITEM HAD BEEN BOUGHT. THIS WEEK ALSO WITH HOUSE OF HOLLAND WE HAD A COMPLETE OVER HALL OF THE STOCK/ONLINE SHOP AND SPENT THREE DAYS TO COMPLETE THIS AND UPDATING STOCK NUMBERS TO ENSURE THAT THE NUMBERS MATCHED WHAT WAS ON THEIR ONLINE STOCK COUNT. ALSO WITH DOING THIS EVERYTHING BECOME A LOT MORE ORGANISED AND I ALSO THEN KNEW WHERE MOST OF THE STOCK WAS AS BEFORE THEN IT HAD BEEN JUMBLED TOGETHER AND YOU HAD TO RUMMAGE TO FIND MOST THINGS.




WEEK SIX WEEK SIX SAW PRETTY MUCH MOST OF THE SAME STUFF THAT I HAVE BEEN DOING PREVIOUSLY. THIS WEEK I SOURCED PICTURES FROM THEIR OLD COLLECTIONS TO PUT UP ONTO THE WEBSITE SHOP FOR V.I.P CUSTOMERS TO GRAB SOME OF THEIR OLDER STUFF. THIS WEEK ALSO WHICH I DID REALLY ENJOY WAS GOING TO SOURCE FABRIC FROM SHEPHERDS BUSH. I WAS GIVEN THREE COLOURS TO LOOK FOR WHICH WAS RED, WHITE AND BLUE AND TO MAKE SURE IT WAS A THICK COTTON AS IT WAS TO BE USED FOR MAKING AND SNAP BACK HAT. I REALLY ENJOYED SOURCING NEGOTIATING PRICES WITH THE SUPPLIERS OF THE FABRIC AND THINK THIS IS SOMETHING I COULD LIKE DOING MAYBE FOR A BIGGER COMPANY LIKE TOPSHOP WHERE YOU HAVE TO GO TO INDIA AND SEE THE FABRIC BEING MADE OVER THERE THIS TO ME SEEMS MUCH MORE HANDS ON AND OUT OF THE OFFICE ENVIRONMENT WHICH IS WHERE I THINK I THRIVE. AFTER GATHERING OVER TWENTY DIFFERENT SOURCES OF FABRIC I HAD TO THEN GO AND GET SECTIONS OF THE HAT FROM A SHOP IN BETHNEL GREEN LIKE THE BONE THAT GOES INTO THE HAT STRUCTURE TO GIVE THE HAT ITS STRENGTH. FROM HERE I TOOK ALL OF THE SEGMENTS TO THE SMALL SEWING FACTORY THEY HAVE HERE FOR THE HAT TO BE MADE.


WEEK SEVEN THIS WEEK WAS QUITE AND EXCITING WEEK IN THE HOUSE OF HOLLAND HQ AS IT SAW THE LAUNCH OF HENRYS COLLABORATION WITH SPORTSGIRL IN AUSTRALIA AND THE LAUNCH OF HIS EYE WEAR POOL PARTY AT COACHELLA IN LA. I WAS GIVEN THE TASK TO FIND PRESS CLIPPINGS THAT HAD DOCUMENTED THE EVENT AND PUT IT INTO A DOCUMENT. I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO SHOW MY SKILLS IN INDESIGN AND LAYOUT THE PRESS CLIPPINGS WELL AND TO A HIGH STANDARD. SO PLEASED WITH THE PRESS DOCUMENT THE COVER OF MY DOCUMENT WENT UP ON TO THE HOUSE OF HOLLAND WEBSITE. WHICH CAN BE SEEN AT THE BOTTOM I WAS REALLY PLEASED AND GLAD THAT MY WORK WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO GO ON THE WEBSITE. THE WORK EVEN GOT FORWARDED TO HENRY AND MEMBERS OF THE TEAM TO GO INTO ARCHIVING OF THE EVENT.

WEEK EIGHT

AFTER THE SUCCESS OF THE InDesign DOCUMENT THE PREVIOUS WEEK ANNA WHO IS HEAD OF SALES ASKED ME TO MAKE THEM A PRESS PACK AIMED AT AMERICA. SO I GOT FORWARDED ALL THE RELEVANT INFORMATION PICTURES THAT RELATED THEM TO AMERICA AS AMERICA IS WHERE HOUSE OF HOLLAND IS REALLY TRYING TO BREAK AS IT IS SUCH A BIG MARKET. HERE ON THE LEFT ARE JUST A FEW PAGES FROM THE PRESS PACK THAT I CREATED FOR THEM THAT GOT SENT OUT TO ALL THE RELEVANT PEOPLE IN AMERICA. THEY WERE REALLY PLEASED WITH IT AND SAID IT WAS REALLY CREATIVE AND THEY WISHED THEY KNEW I HAD THESE SKILLS BEFORE HAND. ANNA DIDN’T WANT ME TO GO AS SHE SAID WITH THIS I WOULD MAKE HER LIFE A LOT MORE EASIER. I ALSO GOT OFFERED TO GO BACK TO HOUSE OF HOLLAND TO HELP THEM WITH THE RUN UP TO THE SS/14 SHOW WHICH I THOUGHT WAS REALLY KIND OF THEM AND THAT I MUST HAVE SHOWN TO BE HARDWORKING FOR THEM TO WANT ME TO COME BACK AND HELP THEM OUT. OVERALL MY TIME AT HOUSE OF HOLLAND I DO FEEL HAS BEEN A ROLLER COASTER UP LOVING IT AND LOATHING IT BUT ALL IN ALL HAS BEEN A GREAT EYE OPENER. LEWIS MOY-MANNING
