REBELLION

540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON AUTOMOTIVE-INSPIRED MAGNESIUM, ALUMINUM, TITANIUM

AND CARBON FIBER MOVEMENT; EXTRA-LARGE TOURBILLON; 14-DAY POWER RESERVE; AND RACE-WINNING CARBON FIBER CASE

It’s often said that a watch reveals something about its owner. However, a watch also reveals much about the brand that created it. Rarely has a timepiece reflected its creators’ experience and expertise so appositely as the 540 Magnum Tourbillon by REBELLION. Why? Because it so strongly embodies the Swiss brand’s deep involvement – and success – with Rebellion Racing in endurance car racing. Rebellion Racing is a winner. Winner of both the 2012 and 2013 FIA LMP1 World Endurance Trophies; winner of both the 2012 and 2013 Petite Le Mans ALMS race in Atlanta; winner of the 2011 Le Mans Series LMP1 Team Championship; and winner of the 2011 Le Mans Series LMP1 Manufacture Championship. The 540 Magnum Tourbillon is yet another REBELLION winner, exuding the all-conquering automotive pedigree that the brand has been accruing ever since it rocketed off the starting grid in 2008. Where Rebellion Racing excels in endurance car racing, REBELLION Timepieces excels in endurance watchmaking. The 540 Magnum’s engine – the proprietary REB T-14 movement

edge sandwich of aluminum and carbon fiber layers throughout the movement. The imposing, almost-square case – constructed modularly in high-tech carbon fiber – is complemented by a race-ready natural rubber strap and bespoke double folding buckle. REBELLION Timepieces are so into racing that with the 540 Magnum, they are literally and figuratively wearing their heart on their sleeve thanks to the eye-catching openwork dial: The balance wheel – the beating heart of the timepiece – rotates proudly in the raised, crenelated tourbillon cage at 4 o’clock, while the dual mainspring barrels, double braced titanium bridges and gear train – all featuring automotive architecture and motifs – provide a technically rich backdrop to the central skeletonized hour and minute hands, skeletonized – has a competition-honed 14-day retrograde seconds lever to the left of power reserve. a stunning technical backdrop to the time indications with their distinctive, black-carbon Super-LumiNova tipped skeletonized hour and minute hands pointing to double-braced ARCAP hour markers. The skeletonized retrograde seconds lever at 6 o’clock, also tipped with blackcarbon Super-LumiNova, further enhances the dial-side animation provided by the oversized tourbillon at 4 o’clock. Each passing day of the 14-day power reserve – its mechanism chain-driven with conical gears for maximum efficiency – is marked by the skeletonized arrowhead in vivid racing red at 9 o’clock. movement materials – aluminum, ceramicizedmagnesium, titanium and carbon fiber – form a smart interplay of dark and light colors. OVERVIEW OF THE REB T-14 MOVEMENT The T-14 movement is a completely original, proprietary movement developed by renowned Swiss movement constructor David Candaux. To ensure that the Magnum fully reflected REBELLION’s competition racing prowess – in terms of materials, design motifs and endurance capacity – David immersed himself in the world of Rebellion Racing, spending time trackside with the Rebellion Racing team, taking notes and photos of their race-proven technology. Then, David, Alexander Pesci (owner of both REBELLION Timepieces and Rebellion Racing) and Steve Clerici (CEO of REBELLION Timepieces), transposed the exciting world of auto sports to the world of watchmaking to create the REB T-14.

Gears can be seen between the tourbillon and relief-engraved mainspring barrels at 12 o’clock and 9 o’clock, both barrels rigidly TWO MAINSPRING BARRELS AND 14-DAY supported by titanium bridges. The high-tech POWER RESERVE 20

Two mainsprings in two barrels generate the 540 Magnum’s massive 14-day power reserve, upholding the REBELLION tradition of timepieces featuring long power reserves. The Magnum’s barrels are connected in series for more constant power to the regulator and improved precision. One barrel is engraved with 'Passion' 'Speed' 'Rebel' and the other 'Extreme' 'Victory' 'Glory’. Words that sum up not only REBELLION’s intimate connection with endurance car racing, but also its ethos of creating contemporary timepieces that challenge the horological establishment. State-of-the-art materials With its mainplate in aluminum and ¾ back plate in carbon fiber, the 540 Magnum draws clear inspiration from the materials used in the world of racing. The carbon fiber plate supports the gear train from mainspring barrel to the escapement; retrograde seconds mechanism; wheels and pinions for the power reserve; and winding ratchet click, making it nearly as complex as the mainplate itself.

provides a micro-thin protective coating without affecting the tourbillon dimensions. MASCULINE CASE Renowned horological designer Eric Giroud designed the 540 Magnum’s case, which boasts virile dimensions (46 mm x 56.7 mm x 19.6 mm) and an oversized, grooved crown. The case band window provides an alternative vista onto the power reserve and its chain, while the choice of resistant, naturally finished carbon fiber – with visible, fibrous strands – is another evident nod towards to the realm of racing cars.

At 36.7mm x 36.7mm x 9mm, the T-14 movement is generously proportioned to fill the case, but it is the clever engineering – a sandwich of hightech layers – and the astute use of cutting-edge materials that make this caliber exceptionally rigid and lightweight. LARGE TOURBILLON The REB T-14 features an extremely large tourbillon – 17.2mm in diameter – floating above the dial, so that its beauty can be fully appreciated. The circumference of the magnesium tourbillon is “540 tenths of a millimeter” (54mm) and it is this value which has given rise to the name of the timepiece – the 540 Magnum. The tourbillon cage has a distinctive crenelated profile engraved '-REB-T14', with the extra weight that this design would normally entail offset by crafting the cage in magnesium – magnesium has just 66 per cent the density of aluminum. The magnesium here has been subjected to a ‘ceramicization’ process that 21

Mercedes-Benz AMG

VISION

Gran Turismo

P

owerful, fast and as graceful as a big cat on the hunt: with the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo, the Stuttgartbased premium brand is presenting its visionary concept for a super sports car. Mercedes-Benz designers developed it specifically for the new PlayStation速 3 racing game Gran Turismo速 6. Extreme proportions, sensual contours and precise graphics blend to form a body that visually confirms the breathtaking performance of 430 kW (585 hp) and 800 Nm of torque. As a 1:1-scale model, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo is celebrating its world premiere at the opening of the new Mercedes-Benz Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California. Before the end of the year, this super sports car with hallmark Mercedes gullwing doors will take to the virtual racetrack. As the first "Vision Gran Turismo" model, it will be available for download when Gran Turismo速 6 goes on sale in December 2013.

35

To mark the 15th birthday of the popular Gran TurismoŽ series this year, Kazunori Yamauchi, Producer Gran Turismo series and President of Polyphony Digital Inc., called upon the world's leading automotive manufacturers and design studios to look forward into the future. Using the theme "Vision Gran Turismo", these creative teams were to develop concept models which give a unique insight into the further development of the automobile. As virtual vehicles that nonetheless function just like a real car, the visionary concepts will be gradually unveiled in and integrated into the new game Gran TurismoŽ 6 through online updates. The designers at the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios in Sindelfingen and Carlsbad (exterior design) and also in Como, Italy (interior design) succeeded in developing the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo in a relatively short space of time. As part of this they worked precisely in accordance with the regular design process for new series production vehicles and show cars. It is almost impossible to develop a vehicle in such a short time – but the hearts of the Mercedes-Benz 36

a fact which helped to accelerate the creative process enormously.

designers beat with a passion for super sports cars. The modern design language combines classic design elements from motor racing history,

EXTREME PROPORTIONS AND FLOWING, SENSUAL CONTOURS The sports car proportions that are a typical Mercedes feature have been reinterpreted: the long bonnet has a flowing transition into a compact greenhouse offset to the rear, which takes the form of an aerodynamically efficient water drop to descend slightly at the rear, where it rests on the powerful, stylish rear end with broad shoulder contours. The dynamic aura is accentuated by an extended, dramatic side contour and a pronounced bulge to the wheel

arches, which blend into the lowslung, muscular bodyshell. The long wheelbase, small front overhang and slightly longer rear overhang likewise give visual confirmation of acceleration power. An elegant contrast with the flowing, sensual contours is created by the clear geometric graphical elements that highlight technical features such as the headlamps, radiator grille and tail lights. The angled headlamps, with their colour scheme and determined look, convey a sense of sportiness and readiness to leap forward. This impression is reinforced by the bonnet with its expressive forms and motorsport details, such as the

37

38

release catches on the bonnet and the fuel cap, for example. The redglowing contour lines on the lower part of the vehicle create an effect similar to that of exterior ambient lighting and stand out from the silver-painted bodywork. This makes the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo look even more aggressive. PURIST INTERIOR DEDICATED TO SPEED The exterior design, which is systematically geared to motor racing and therefore reduced to the bare essentials, is congenially mirrored in the interior of the two-seater. The functional yet elegant interior design exudes powerful, passionate sportiness. Inspired by a Formula 1 cockpit, the red integral sports seats provide perfect lateral support and blend into the black flooring of the footwell to form a protective shell. The form of this flowing, sculptured shell is clearly dedicated to function, ergonomics and safety – and suggests enormous forward thrust.

A truly eye-catching feature is the dashboard, which takes the form of two gullwing doors which are positioned on each side of the steering column. As a result the actual doors themselves appear to be an extension of the dashboard. The dashboard therefore has a particularly dynamic and sensuous appearance. The central display is optimally positioned in the driver's field of vision: it takes the form of a glass surface floating directly above the racing steering wheel with its shift paddles, and shows all the relevant information such as road speed, engine speed and

operating temperature as required. Operation is by rocker switches in the centre of the dashboard and in an overhead console, like in a jet. The steering column visibly penetrates the firewall to the engine compartment, creating a visual connection between the driver and the heart of this super sports car, the AMG V8 front-mid engine. VARIABLE LED RADIATOR GRILLE WITH DIFFERENT LIGHTING PATTERNS Another eye-catching feature is the radiator grille – a reinterpretation of 39

"By virtue of its proportions and expressive appearance, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo embodies the brand's defining design philosophy of sensual purity in a unique way. The design of this concept car reflects to extreme effect the perfect symbiosis between emotional, sensuous contours and intelligently presented high tech," Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design Daimler AG.

the wide Mercedes-Benz sports car grille with central star. Its shape is reminiscent of the legendary 300 SL racing car that won a glorious victory in the 3rd Carrera Panamericana in Mexico in 1952 – one of the world's toughest long-distance races – despite the famous accident with a vulture. However, the radiator grille of the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo does not feature classic louvres but rather exclusively LEDs. The variable LED grille with different light patterns is a further development of the diamond grille introduced with the new A-Class. The majority of the LEDs are arranged to represent five horizontal louvres. When the daytime running lamps are switched on, the centre "louvre" lights up to show the front aspect that is typical of Mercedes sports cars. When the racing lights are switched on, numerous LEDs light up in green in the background, like round fog lamps. Gran Turismo® 6 Players will soon be able to choose an alternative version of the virtual Mercedes-Benz super sports car. The “Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series” offers further enhancements over the regular show car which was presented as physical 1:1 model in California. To ensure perfect downforce and therefore great handling stability in tough racetrack conditions on the PlayStation, the Racing Series has a fixed rear spoiler while the show car version has an extending variant of this integrated into the boot lid. In addition, the third brake light in the middle of the rear end lights up in red as the Gran Turismo® logo, unmistakably confirming the identity of the high-performance gullwing racer. Visitors of the LA Autoshow are

the first to drive this car virtually in Gran Turismo® 6 next to the 1:1 show car at the Mercedes-Benz booth. INTELLIGENT LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN The AMG V8 biturbo engine delivers an exceptionally agile response to even the smallest movements of the accelerator. It develops 430 kW (585 hp) and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. With an aluminium spaceframe body and components in carbon fibre, the material of choice in motor racing, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo tips the scales at only 1385 kilograms. That amounts to around 2.4 kilograms per hp – an unrivalled figure in the super sports car segment, and one that guarantees exceptionally dynamic performance. The weight distribution of 46 percent at the front and 54 percent at the rear likewise promises plenty of driving pleasure. AUTHENTIC ENGINE SOUND FROM THE RACETRACK The engine is combined with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, which is systematically

configured for outstandingly dynamic performance. Excellent deceleration values and fade resistance at the highest level are ensured by the AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system. The AMG sports exhaust system with eight tailpipes integrated into the rear end provides a powerful accompaniment whenever the car accelerates, and ensures an unrivalled motorsports sound experience. For fans of Gran Turismo® 6, the Mercedes-Benz AMG sound specialists have created a powerful, sonorous exhaust note that authentically celebrates the V8's love of high engine speeds. The high-frequency sound signature when accelerating under full load is particularly reminiscent of the racetrack.

Bugatti Legend

MEO COSTANTINI BUGATTI IS PRESENTING THE THIRD MODEL IN ITS

SIX-PART

“LES

EDITION

LÉGENDES

DE

BUGATTI” AT THIS YEAR’S DUBAI INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW. THIS LEGEND CAR, WHICH LIKE ALL CARS IN THE SERIES IS BASED ON THE VEYRON 16.4 GRAND SPORT VITESSE, PAYS HOMAGE TO MEO COSTANTINI. COSTANTINI WAS A CLOSE FRIEND OF THE COMPANY’S FOUNDER, ETTORE BUGATTI. HE WAS THE HEAD OF BUGATTI’S FACTORY RACE TEAM FOR MANY YEARS AND WAS ALSO A DRIVER, WINNING THE TARGA FLORIO TWO TIMES IN THE BUGATTI TYPE 35, ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL RACING CARS OF ALL TIME. THE LEGEND EDITION “MEO COSTANTINI” IS PRICED AT €2.09 MILLION, EXCLUDING TAXES AND TRANSPORT. AS WITH ALL BUGATTI LEGEND CARS, THE PRODUCTION RUN IS LIMITED TO ONLY THREE VEHICLES.

46

Bartolomeo “Meo” Costantini, born in 1889, was the head of Bugatti’s racing team for eight years. He developed an interest in racing cars and began racing at an early age. It was after the First World War that he first came into contact with the Bugatti brand, when he was involved in modifying a Bugatti Type 13. This is the car that Meo would drive during his first races in 1920-21. It was through these races that Ettore Bugatti first became aware of the young Italian’s talents, and he invited him to Molsheim in 1923. The two developed a close bond, and Costantini worked for Bugatti as a racing driver and advisor from that time on. As a member of the factory team in 1925 and 1926, he won the most famous and important race in its time, the Targa Florio in Sicily. In 1926, he also drove to victory at the Spanish Grand Prix and the Grand Prix of Milan, and took second place in Monza. Shortly afterwards he ended his active racing career in order to manage the Bugatti racing team, a post which he held from 1927 until 1935. Costantini stayed at Bugatti until 1937.

47

BUGATTI LEGEND CAR “MEO COSTANTINI” The series of Bugatti Legend cars, “Les Légendes de Bugatti”, was launched in August at California’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with the Vitesse “Jean-Pierre Wimille”. This was followed by the Legend car, “Jean Bugatti”, which was presented at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. Now, the third Legend Edition, dedicated to Meo Costantini, will be revealed to the public for the first time in Dubai. The car is based on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. Its 8-liter W16 engine achieves an unparalleled torque of 1,500 Nm from 1,200 hp at 3,000–5,000 rpm, and can accelerate from 0–100 km (0 to 62 MPH) in 2.6 seconds. The Vitesse was driven to a top speed of 408.84 km (253 MPH) with the roof down in April 2013, making it the fastest production roadster ever built.

48

Another feature that pays tribute to the illustrious racing driver is his signature, which is laser-engraved into the aluminium tank and oil caps and painted in silver.

DESIGN Exterior. The body of the Vitesse Legend “Meo Costantini” is primarily constructed of carbon fiber. The wings, doors, the parts behind the doors, the “medaillons” (French) and corners of the front bumper are rendered in aluminium. The blue paintwork on the carbon fiber parts references France’s classic motor sport color, as well as the Type 35. The new paint color “Bugatti Dark Blue Sport” has been specially developed for the vehicle. The aluminium parts are hand-polished and coated with clear

lacquer. Bugatti is the only production manufacturer to offer polished clearcoated aluminium bodywork. Another special feature of this car is that individual parts have two different paint finishes. This requires great skill, and is particularly impressive to see on the wings, which are finished in both clear lacquer and blue paint. As a reference to Costantini’s victory at Targa Florio, the silhouette of the historic race course is painted on the underside of the rear wing (airbrake) in “Bugatti Dark Blue Sport.”

Interior. The interior of the Legend Vitesse “Meo Costantini” is completely upholstered in leather. The roof, footwell, center sections of the seats and rear wall are all in the color “Gaucho”, a sophisticated cognac tone. The seat’s side cushions, arm rests, extended center console, door panels, dash panel, instrument panel and steering wheel are all trimmed in dark blue leather in the “Lake Blue” color. The decorative stitching in contrasting light blue (“Bugatti Light Blue Sport”) lends an expressive touch. A brief glance into the interior makes it immediately clear to whom the car is dedicated. The head restraints are embroidered with Meo Costantini’s signature in “Bugatti Light Blue Sport,” whilst the cover of the rear center box features the eye-catching silhouette of the Targa Florio race route. The silhouette is portrayed in a milled and polished aluminium relief 49

50

that has been attached directly below the EB logo on the cover, itself crafted from dark blue clear-coated carbon fiber. A special highlight of the interior is the racing scenes and vintage car motifs on the doors, which have been laserengraved into the leather trim with the utmost precision and attention to detail. These images illustrate the most glorious moments of Meo Costantini’s racing career and the exciting world of motor racing in the 1920s. The interior trim of the door pockets and door handle recesses in “Bugatti Light Blue Sport” adds a dash of color. The Vitesse Legend “Meo Costantini” also shares several features with the other Legend cars in the Edition, including the inlay in the extended section of the center console, crafted of clear-coated carbon fiber and sporting the Legend logo with the

famous Bugatti elephant, and the door sill strips displaying the likeness and signature of Meo Costantini. BUGATTI TYPE 35: ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL RACING CARS OF ALL TIME The Bugatti Type 35 numbers among the brand’s most outstanding vehicles. With more than 2,000 victories, this is one of the most successful racing cars in motorsports history. In line with the motto “Race on Sunday, sell on Monday”, the Type 35 brought a golden era to the Molsheim-based company, with Ettore Bugatti selling many Type 35s directly to wealthy

racing drivers directly after the races. In its time, the Type 35 was the only car that could be driven both on the race track and on public roads. Meo Costantini achieved almost all of his victories in a Type 35. The racing car draws its power of approximately 100 hp from a 2-liter, straight eight engine. Its weight of 750 kg including the body is distributed perfectly across the axles (50 to 50 percent), giving the car incredible manoeuvrability. With its characteristic racing car body in tear-drop shape, this is a car that continues to capture the imagination right up to the present day.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT

FINAL EDITION

THE ULTIMATE SUPER SPORTS CAR

54

55

T

he grand finale: the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION brings an impressive era to an end in exclusive style. The FINAL EDITION model, built in a limited run of just 350

units, represents the last opportunity for customers to order a SLS AMG – while at the same time reflecting the unrivalled success story and unique scope offered by the first vehicle to be completely built by Mercedes-AMG. The super sports car, with its 435 kW (591 hp) AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid engine, offers a fascinating combination of truly exceptional design and equipment features. Exclusively developed Cup tyres enhance its dynamic performance.

56

The SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION is celebrating its twin world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show and the Tokyo Motor Show (both: 20 November to 1 December 2013). The market launch will begin in March 2014. The super sports car will be available as either a CoupĂŠ or a Roadster and, once 350 units have been built, production of the SLS AMG model series will come to an end. Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG

GmbH: "As the first car to be completely developed by AMG, the SLS AMG marked the beginning of a new era for our company. And now, in the form of the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION, we are offering our customers one final and extremely attractive variant of our super sports car. With its numerous carbon fibre-look body components, a further optimised aerodynamic balance and optional Cup tyres, the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION has the absolute potential to fascinate."

Exterior with exclusive carbon fibre-look bonnet and rear spoiler The special design of the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION ensures that it stands out in visual terms: the carbon fibreeffect bonnet with central air outlet, the carbon-fibre front splitter on the front apron, the fixed carbon-fibre rear aerofoil that is so reminiscent of the SLS AMG CoupĂŠ Black Series and the exclusive AMG forged light-alloy wheels make it a real head-turner. Particularly in conjunction with the

57

designo magno graphite matt paintwork that has been adopted from the collector's model, the SLS AMG GT3 "45th ANNIVERSARY" (available as an option), the carbon fibre components and the AMG forged wheels have a distinctly sporty flair. To add to the distinctive visual impression when seen from behind, the struts of the rear apron are finished in highgloss black. New aerodynamic components comprising a carbon-fibre bonnet, rear aerofoil and front splitter reduce the lift on both the front and the rear axle. As on the SLS AMG Coupe Black Series and the SLS AMG GT3, the carbon-fibre bonnet of the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION features a central air outlet. Apart from effectively dissipating engine heat, this outlet also increases downforce at the front axle and improves the Cd value. The engineers at AMG have utilised the vacuum effect to deliver the double benefit of dissipating the hot air from the engine compartment at the same time as drawing up the cool airflow from the vehicle's underbody. The optimised aerodynamic balance not only improves the car's potential on the racing circuit, but also contributes to handling safety.

AMG forged wheels and newly developed Cup tyres The AMG forged wheels in a crossspoke design are available in two colour variants: painted matt black with a high-sheen finish or painted matt black with a high-sheen rim flange. Red-painted brake callipers provide an effective contrast. New "Dunlop Sport Maxx Race" Cup tyres in size 265/35 R 19 (front) and 295/30 R 20 (rear) are available on request

as a no-cost option. These Cup tyres have been exclusively developed for Mercedes-AMG. Not only do these improve steering precision: they also increase grip. The SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION thus lends itself for use by aspiring racing drivers on private or closed-off circuits. AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine producing 435 kW (591 hp) and 650 newton metres 59

Opening the carbon-fibre bonnet reveals the front mid-mounted AMG 6.3-litre V8 power unit set low down and well to the back. With an output of 435 kW (591 hp) at 6800 rpm and maximum torque of 650 newton metres at 4750 rpm, the high-revving eight-cylinder engine guarantees dynamic driving at its finest. The SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and can reach 200 km/h in 11.2 seconds. The top speed is 320 km/h (electronically limited). Fast-reacting, variable and emotionally exciting – the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission proves to be the perfect match for the V8 naturally aspirated engine. With four shift programmes, RACE START

pattern It is not only the exterior design and the engineering of the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION that will satisfy the most discerning of tastes, but also the interior: the high-quality ambience is characterised above all by the striking designo Exclusive leather in a diamond pattern that is used to upholster the centre panels of both the seats and the doors. Contrasting topstitching in silver coordinates perfectly with the black leather upholstery, the silver seat belts and the black floor mats edged in silver leather. Carbon-fibre trim comes as standard.

and an automatic double-declutching function, the dual-clutch transmission mounted in a transaxle configuration on the rear axle brings with it the perfect prerequisites for top performance. The particularly dynamic shift characteristics, and the shorter reaction time when selecting gears manually, enhance the emotional experience for the driver. The AMG RIDE CONTROL performance suspension with variable, electronically controlled damping, includes the "Sport" and "Sport plus" programmes. Interior with designo Exclusive leather in a diamond

A particularly exclusive detail is the "AMG FINAL EDITION - 1 of 350" badge on the carbon-fibre centre console. A further high-quality feature, both to look at and to feel, is the so-called "3D seam": a fine strip of Alcantara® set into the leathercovered instrument panel demonstrates the attention to detail that is so typical of Mercedes-AMG. Contrasting topstitching skilfully handworked in silver adds the finishing touch to the 3D seam, underlining the craftsmanship involved. The AMG Performance steering wheel in Alcantara® with silver 12 o'clock markings all-round and a high-gloss black real metal insert matches the high-gloss black surrounds of the air vents. The sports seats feature an embossed AMG emblem in the head restraints. Whether Coupé, Roadster, GT, Black Series, Electric Drive, the GT3 racing version, the new FINAL EDITION or – last not least – the Official F1® Safety Car in the Formula 1® World Championship: the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has been causing a stir since 2009. The output of the models with road-going approval ranges from 420 kW (571 hp) to 552 kW (751 hp). The super sports car celebrated its world premiere in its Coupé guise at the International Motor Show (IAA) in

Frankfurt/Main in September 2009, with the market launch taking place in the spring of 2010. The spectacular gullwing model was followed in 2011 by the SLS AMG Roadster and the customer-sport racing model, the SLS AMG GT3. With various titles in international championships such as the ADAC GT Masters, the FIA GT3 European Championship and the FIA GT1 World Championship, as well as over 100 victories in race series on five continents, the racing version of the gullwing model has impressively demonstrated its extraordinary performance. In particular, long-distance successes in the Bathurst 12-hour race and the 24-hour races in Dubai, at the Nürburgring, in Spa-Francorchamps and in Barcelona have spectacularly confirmed the competitiveness of the racing gullwing model. In 2013 alone, the SLS AMG GT3 2013 thus claimed the "grand slam" of classic GT3 long-distance races, with four victories in succession. In the hotly contested Blancpain Endurance Series, the SLS AMG GT3 similarly won the championship title in 2013. Since early 2010 the SLS AMG has also been ensuring safety in Formula 1, the ultimate motor racing series, as the Official F1® Safety Car. The FORMULA 1 SHELL BELGIAN GRAND PRIX in September 2012 saw the SLS AMG GT take over this role. In June 2013 came the market launch of the two most powerful variants: the SLS AMG Coupé Black Series with 464 kW (631 hp) and the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive with 552 kW (751 hp). SLS AMG now already a classic of the future Since its world premiere in 2009 the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has won numerous awards of international significance. Not least on the basis of its breathtaking design and acknowledged superb driving dynamics, the super sports car from Mercedes-AMG is today already deemed to be a classic of the future.
