Levia Moncrieffe-Kallai was born in London and migrated from England to Canada in 1978. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Art and Master’s Degree in Fine Art in Painting at the University of Wolverhampton, England in 2004. Kallai formerly worked as an art therapist. Levia still volunteers to be a spiritual counselor and she has done for ten years. Levia cultivated an interest in arts at three years old. Henceforth, a new beginning was raised as she started drawing and later paintings at an ever-emerging manner. She considers herself selftaught. The Artist has been fascinated by vibrant colors, seeing endless possibilities in her surroundings. Her life’s journey continually enhances her enthusiasm to interpret pictures of people and houses within a coloring background, through drawings, and later paintings, at an ever-increasing rate. An unknown name of an artistic angel has connected with Kallai, alternating inner communications and representing images to her for fifteen years. Such kind of sentiments build an empathy and keen enthusiasm inside her when she uses her brain and feeling of the inner positive emotions, which transform images based on colors to interpret conversation. By capturing her mind about the feelings and sensation of those people; she gains access to infinite sights of her immense knowledge and expertise to identify and convert characters.

Her art is informed by her fascination with various cultures around the world; learning about diverse perspectives, behaviors, and lifestyles provides inspiration for her work. By examining facets of the eyes, one is seeing people’s different emotions, including facial expressions, as well as melancholy and positive feelings. Kallai’s enthusiastic encounters increase her empathy for the world around her to interpret works of art. Levia Kallai’s paintings depict the visual impression of characters that convey a deep emotional core, making them compelling to the viewer. More than anything else, dynamic colors are conceivably reliable and known as the most outstanding method to place on an inspirational impact upon the people’s mind faced in their daily lives. Such a scenario is paramount to allure attraction when given an adaptation with new attitudes and positive thoughts to gratify the spectators. Oil, oil pastel, and acrylic paintings using vibrant colors are important to accomplish a framework, which helps develop people’s understanding and appreciation.

Matter clots coagulating on the canvas, wisely manipulated by the direct intervention of the artist herself, make of the artwork an almost threedimensional piece. Precious Mauritius, which represents a perfect example of a wide part of Kallai's artistic production, spots a certain taste in experimenting different materials, melted together in quite a spontaneous and impulsive manner as the alchemist mixes different substances in order to create something new. The subject visage is hazy, and yet quite accurate in the way it transmit a certain impression: the artwork literally rises from matter, as if it were always been hiding in its clumps and all you need to do was take a very careful look behind the curtain. In the end the pattern settled by the artist has to be followed in quite a boundless way, where the figurative side of the subject doesn't prevent the matter to express itself in an almost abstract way.

Surely not a conventional artist, Levia MoncrieffeKallai has the ability to bring out the inner aspect that moves the artist to creation. The vibrant colours used by Levia transmit feelings, emotions, positivity. Levia’s art is not a pessimistic view of the reality but a peaceful and joyful inner analysis that find reflection on the calm faces of her subjects. Not a frightening world the one described by Levia but a place of positive emotions where different cultures mix toghether to give life to a new enriching melting pot. Marina Bergonzi

Levia expresses herself through a multitude of colors and always new techniques. In this artwork is rapresented a man riding an horse. A work full of dynamism and energy. The main color is red, accentuated by the juxtaposition of the yellow-green and the light blue. The horse is the focal point of the work, in fact he catches the eye of the viewer, looking at him with his light blue eye. Through the different brushstrokes and the color stains that compose the figures, this artwork communicates power, strenght and bravery. Alessandra Altieri

Levia’s artworks represent different cultures, in particular through the depiction of women. She experiments a lot with different techniques. This artwork is a very close up painting of a young woman, made using oil, acrylic and thick collages. The attention is all on the big and expressive blue eyes. The aim of Levia is to arouse emotions and reflections. Alessandra Altieri

Levia, in her portraits, creates an inner search, which does not focus only on herself but will expand by touching the soul of all women. In some of her portraits, the female figures are represented without smile or face, but at the same time appear sensual, not erotic, making expression of a society free and peaceful, without prejudices and standards of beauty, where their body is no longer analyzed by the male gaze but from themselves. A great capacity to analyze the subjects, combined with an extraordinary ability in the color synthesis. A bursting emotionalism emerges from her works. Her technique is based on the materic juxtapositions of color of Van Gogh and on the sincerest portraits of Matisse. The material seems to emerge from her canvases, capturing us magnetically. No preparatory drawing, no contour line. The color at the same time is protagonist and bonding between figure and background. Both are treated equally and they are essentially distinguished by the chosen color pigmentations. From the works of Levia arise not only the emotions of her characters, but also her own joy and pride of being an artist, her passion for the pictorial material, her love for her own creations. With "The dream of the Blue Jazz and Mozart" we actually step back from Levia we used to know: the features we have learnt to identify as the very proper peculiarities of her production, such as the matter clots and a certain attitude in handling mixed materials, are set aside. Instead, we can see an unusual comeback to Modern tradition, recalled by the use of the canvas as a support and the acrylics as media, enriched by the addition of collage pieces. The oddity of the technique is increased by the choice of the subject: a musician's dream, where the musical instrument is piled up to his own visage in quite a Surrealistic way, taking control of the whole composition. The artwork keeps all the complicated intersections of a dream, connected to the vibrations, breaks, correspondence and even the bravery of a melody.
