GIANT HOGWOOD – DON’T TOUCH •This is nasty and is extremely difficult to manage once established (seeds are viable for a decade to 15 years). •It is not yet in Alberta but is in BC, but is currently only distributed in the lower mainland, Gulf and Vancouver islands. •WorkSafe BC I believe has issued a “toxic plant warning” for this plant, including development of a specific protocol and PPE for handling it. •It closely resembles our more friendly cow parsnip but at 6 m tall. If you see it and are not carrying a blow torch – RUN. But make sure to follow up with the local invasive species group and/or one of us here. Photos are a bonus for identification.
