WGA WGA (LOWGA)
June 1st was National Women’s golf day, celebrating newcomers to the game and players at all levels. The ladies golf group at Lakewood does not need a special day to celebrate the newcomers or our longtime members. I joined LOWGA a few years ago when I decided to start playing golf after I retired. The ladies golf group welcomed a newbie like me with the same enthusiasm they would a seasoned player new to the club. There are many events and activities planned all summer that include both competitive and social. My love for golf is more on the social side but I do try to ignite my competitive side. One event that incorporates perfectly the competitive and recreational is the Lakewood Cup. This annual July event kicks off with a social pairing party and a competitive weekend of play.
