MADISON STEWART INTERIOR DESIGN PORTFOLIO
ABOUT
Madi’s love for interior design started at young age as she admired her father’s business designing houses as an architectural designer. Madi graduated with a Bachelors Degree of Interior Design from Utah State University. In school, her love for design turned into a passion. She learned to push her creativity and to challenge herself. While in school, Madi earned her LEED Green Associate certification, making her informed on green building practices and energy savings. In addition to a rigorous course load, Madi also completed an internship working alongside Caitlin Wilson, an interior and textile designer in Portland, OR. There she gained a better understanding of marketing and pattern development. Upon graduation, Madi joined the House of Jade Interiors team in South Jordan, UT, contributing in multiple capacities as a Junior Designer, Manager of E-Design, and Marketing Specialist. She believes every home should tell a story and should be unique to the client. She loves mixing eclectic and modern pieces together to create a personal space for each client.

HISTORIC MUSIC ROOM This project was one of my favorites to work on. The client recently purchased a historic 1920’s home in West Virginia and wanted to slowly renovate it with keeping it time period appropriate. She was drawn to a London Flat style and wanted to mix modern and antique pieces together. She wanted this room to be an “adult” room where her kids were not allowed to play. This gave us more freedom in choosing materials that didn’t have to be kid friendly.
KITCHEN REMODEL
NEW MEXICO LIVING ROOM This client recently just built a new home in New Mexico for the Parade of Homes and just needed help finishing up her living room. She really wanted to have a mix of leather and upholstery with some natural elements. Because this was going to be in the Parade of Homes I made sure to give her a lot of direction on styling and accessorizing the space.

CASATI TINY HOUSE
KITCHEN Contrasting colors black and white were used in this kitchen with the concept of monochromatic minimalism. Open shelving is used to display the dishes as if they are a piece of art with out having to clutter the shelves. This neutral color scheme allows the food being prepared and eaten to be a use of color.

MASTER BEDROOM A master bedroom inspired by Swedish design. The main concept for this residence was monochromatic minimalism. Spaces commonly thrive off of the colors that are used in the materials but not this one. I wanted to challenge myself and use a monochromatic color scheme black, white and grey with small tasteful pops of color. The floor plan leaves no room for clutter, keeping the space simple and clean.
PLANTATION VILLAGE This project was presented to New York City designer Benjamin Noriega Ortiz in April 2015. Our project requirements were to design a condo in Puerto Rico for a small family of three, consisting of a middle-aged couple and their young daughter. One of the challenges Benjamin presented to us was to design a large dining room for fourteen guests. The use of color in this space was inspired by the famous San Juan, Puerto Rico, reflecting the vibrant Puerto Rican culture.

HOME OFFICE
PLANTATION VILLAGE Inspired by the work of Benjamin Noriega Ortiz, this wildly contemporary home office could make anyone want to stay and work from home. Benjamin is known for his bold use of color and transparent sheer curtains. I took these design traits and made them my own by using the lively magenta hog sculptures placed on the Mineheart White Bookshelf wallpaper.
CASATI TINY HOUSE Objective: 1,000 square foot house for a couple with one bedroom, two restrooms, living space, laundry room, kitchen, and two closets. Time: Two semesters The name Casati comes from an Italian bike company that produces quality hand made bicycles. These Italian bicycles inspired the architecture and structure of this tiny house. The round steel exterior structure on the front and back of the building represents the bicycle wheel and the angled structure on the side represents the handlebars. The modern style of the exterior of the building continues on into the interior. The interior was designed to have an open floor plan to give the illusion that the space is larger. The only walls in the floor plan are to separate the restrooms, laundry and closets from the space.

WORKSPACE Objective: a co-working office located in downtown Ogden for App Developers, Graphic Designers, Web Developers, and Programmers. Tenants have the option to rent three different workspaces including open seating, cubicles, or private offices. Additions to the workspaces are complimentary services such as large and small conference rooms, phone booths, lounge areas, and a kitchenette. Time: Three weeks The purpose of this co-working space was to give small businesses and entrepreneurs the opportunity to have a place to work outside of their home without the expense and stress of owning an office of their own. The clientele of Workspace needed room for creativity and inspiration to grow. The floor plan was designed to navigate around the centralized glass conference rooms allowing the space to feel very open and easy to network with other tenants.

VIE CORPORATE OFFICE VIE is a magazine company promoting green living. Using products that are sustainable to the environment and helping the company promote green living was the biggest goal for this space. The key element of this break room is the unique green wall. By having the planters inset into the wall not only improves the indoor air quality of the office but also creates an eye catching design element. AutoCAD and Revit were mainly used for this project.

TIMPANOGOS HOSPITAL Objective: A high-end labor and delivery wing in a hospital, designed to be luxurious. Time: Four weeks Hospitals have been known to be very bland and depressing. This Labor and Delivery suite in the Timpanogos Hospital was inspired by boutique hotels; a place where people feel comfortable and restful. To feel like a hotel rather than a hospital room, the room was designed with vibrant colors and patterns inspired from pieces of nature.
