Corporate Design

Ocean Sonics

Objective:

Ocean Sonics is expanding their company to Boston, Massaschusetts. They are in need of a design for a two-story office space.

Solution:

To solve this, I have created an open multi-use space for Ocean Sonics to grow. I have incorporated universal, sustainable, and generational design to allow a easily usable space for anyone to use. Completed in Revit, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Concept: Sei whale

The concept for this design was the Sei whale. This breed of whale represents emotion, inner truth, and creativity. Whales have rhythm and movement to them and are a simple creature with smooth lines and curves.

The office contains lots of natural light as well as greenery to incorporate biophilic design throughout the space.

View To Top Of Stairs And Breakout Zones

I decided to go with a spiral staircase to help convey the concept of a whale with smooth, curved lines. At the top of the staircase is a glass phone booth which you can view in the axon on the right. There is also a small seating or breakout zone located at the top.

Throughout the space there are multiple breakout zones. Although each floor is separated for different jobs in the business the space encourages people to work where they feel most comfortable and can perform to their best ability. There is even the incorporation of phone booths for private calls throughout the space.

There is multiple branding moments throughout the space with incorporations of brand colors as well as ocean moments with the color scheme and whale tail incoportations as pictured below.

Bistro Design

Bubbles

Objective:

To create a restaurant/bar cafeteria in the historical center or Florence around the theme of a Mind Garden.

Collaboration:

Michaela Ellison

Solution:

My partner and I created the Dynamism Cafe, an industrial style bistro that incorporates naturalistic elements that create a inviting, welcoming environment. Completed in Revit and Adobe Photoshop.

Concept: Figurative Paralysis

The concept is based upon the “Mind Garden” which derives from the story “What the Plant Says” by Erine James. This article discusses the story of Griffin, who is a veteran coming back from war dealing with a drug addiction. Griffin’s therapist encourages him to care for house plants while recovering from life after war. Griffin and the plant are “equally stunted” reflecting his time in the war and an opiod drug addiction and the plant lacking care and nourishment. From this the concept of Figurative Paralysis was inspired through incorporating industrial design and natural element.

Apartment 1 or Simplistica which is the Italian word for simple is inspired by the moments of freedom in life. This is to show when there isn’t a weight on your shoulders, or the joyous activities that keep you sane or emotions intact.

Apartment 2 or Vivace is influenced by the joy and creativity that Griffin, the character in the book, felt when he was under the influence. Vivace translates to lively in Italian. It is the beginning of addiction, the happy and high of life. It is meant to appear spirited and playful.

Apartment 3 or Audace is to represent the after math of addiction. Audace in Italian translates to bold. This room uses lots of geometry and cool colors to represent this idea.

Apartment 4 or Fredda shows the state that Griffin is in now which he calls the vegetable state. This apartment uses cool colors and is darker to convey this idea. Fredda in Italian translates to cold and that is what we tried to do.
