Healthcare Design

Objective:

To create a new healthcare facility consisting of an Urgent Care, Emergency Department and Short-Term Rehabilitation located in Canyonville, Oregon.

Solution:

Canyonville Wellness Center incorporates biophilia design as well as universal design to create a welcoming inviting space where anyone is welcome. Using these methods, I have designed a state-of-the art health center that evokes feeling and emotion or everyone. For every user group their needs have been taken into consideration as the design proceeded. Completed in Revit, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Concept: The Proust Effect

The Proust Effect is the phenomenon of when you are given a different scent that it can cause a effect where you remember an old memory. If you smell fresh cookies this might stimulate a memory of cooking with grandma when you were a child. Through this concept my interpretation was to create a space using different senses to evoke these memories and feeling of home as well as using movement, patterns, variety, and shape. Healthcare facilities are supposed to be a space where you focus on your health and using these methods can impact the well-being of others.
