Magnus Thor Hafsteinsson
Icelandic writer, journalist, editor and translator, holding a masters degree in natural sciences from the University of Bergen, Norway. Magnus has edited newspapers and written a great number articles for newspapers and magazines covering a great variety of topics. He has also worked for radio and televison. His books cover various topics: whales, a book and a documentary film about a expedition of Icelanders to Arctic Canada, an Icelandic air disaster in the Faeroe Islands and four history books about the naval war in the North Atlantic and the role of Iceland during second world war. Magnus has also translated a number of books from Norwegian and English to Icelandic: novels, history and biography. Among authors translated by him are great works by Max Hastings, Bruce Springsteen, Erling Kagge, Jørn Lier Horst and Heine Bakkeid. Magnus lives in Akranes, Iceland where he continues writing every single day. The only exception is during summers when he enjoys the hard work of catching cod on his small boat at the rich fishing grounds off the northwestern coasts of Iceland.
