Sock - Encantados

Sock - Encantados NEW COLLECITON

Inspired by children’s stories, we started to work on a new color development. When creating a new collection, we test quite a few colors to be able to choose only the best of them to bring to you. This time we liked them all so much and we felt so nostalgic and inspired by each one of them that we decided to share them all with you. We hope you love this collection just as much as we do and that it inspires you to create the most magical knits!. 16 exclusive colors are dyed in Sock, 12 exclusive colors are dyed in Mechita, take a first look!

Sock

Three Little Pigs - 357 The inspiration for this color are the three little pigs in their older vintage version of 1935 since the pigs are not so pink, more beige and we liked it best.

Gingy - 358 Gingy is the beautiful ginger cookie from Shrek, this character watches out the swamp. We designed this color inspired by this cookie/friend and we love it!

Gobber - 351

Gepetto - 350 Thinking of Gepetto’s main material, wood, we thought this tone of beige would be a great tribute to him.

Sock

Inspired by the viking veteran warrior. We took his costume color palette and added some orange speckled details in representation of the dragon.

Encantados

-07

Jasmine - 347 Jasmine, princess of ficiticial kingdom Agrabah, was a great muse for this gorgeous soft green. We were inspired of course by her typical dress.

Land of Oz - 345 “Behind the moon and over the rain” The center section of Land of Oz is represented with green, Emerald city. “You’re out of the woods, you’re out of the dark, you’re out of the night, step into the sun, step into the light! Keep straight ahead for the most glorious place on the face of the earth or the sky.“

Myths - 344 For the three speckled colors in our two collections we decided to name them after one thing in common; types of stories.

Fiona - 346 Our favorite female ogre inspired this deep green. Representing her true self.

Tin Soldier - 353 We saw the musical short Piano Concerto No. 2 and we love the color of Tin Soldier’s suit, we did it a bit more orange so that it wouldn’t be repeated with other colors we already have.

Sneezy - 352 One of the cutest dwarfs, we took his physical color palette as an inspiration for this color, mainly his beard and pants.

Swamp - 354

Legend - 343

Sock

For this deep purple we took inspiration on the tupelo trees from swamps. The low part where they meet the water, once it’s humid, creates this amazing deep purple tone we wanted to replicate

For the three speckled colors in our two collections we decided to name them after one thing in common; types of stories.

Encantados

-09

Aladdin - 355 Inspired by Aladdin’s main color palette, where purple is the main color, we’ve created this beautiful color with lots of shades in purple.

Ursula - 365 The antagonist in Little Mermaid, we love all her aesthetic. We decided to make a beautiful purple color thinking of her tentacles as well as make up and hair details. It is a complex color and with lots of different tones in it as well as speckled details

Alice - 340 We took Alice’s, from Alice in Wonderland, iconic light blue dress to design a color, we made a shade a bit more dark just to have a completely new color in our color card. But we sure were inspired by this beautiful character.

Under the Sea - 362 What name could be best for this gorgeous blue we designed? When we saw it, we were automatically sure we were going to name it after the legendary song that Sebastian sings to Little Mermaid to convince her to stay underwater.

Fiona - 346

Pascal - 363 This color was named after Rapunzel chameleon, we design it in its neutral phase, soft green. We love him for being such a good friend with Rapunzel and helping her.

Mechita

Our favorite female ogre inspired this deep green. Representing her true self.

Alice - 340 We took Alice’s, from Alice in Wonderland, iconic light blue dress to design a color, we made a shade a bit more dark just to have a completely new color in our color card. But we sure were inspired by this beautiful character.

Cuentos Mágicos

Gris - 212 This is a color that already exists in Rios but we liked it to neutralize some of the colors in this collection. We believe it will be very helpful to mix and match!

Fairy Tale - 342 For the three speckled colors in our two collections we decided to name them after one thing in common; types of stories.

Mechita

Dried Orange - 895 This is an old color, but we liked it because of the resemblance with halloween pumpkins. A classic in horror child stories, we couldn’t create this collection and leave it out!

Three Little Pigs - 357 The inspiration for this color are the three little pigs in their older vintage version of 1935 since the pigs are not so pink, more beige and we liked it best.

Neverland - 341

Aurora - 367 This beautiful color mixes shades of pink inspired by Aurora’s dress. We didn’t want to make a super bright color, so we added a bit of black and it’s beautiful!

Mechita

We tried to recreate the Mermaid Lagoon with all those magical shades of pinks; trying to capture that beautiful landscape so that you can transfer it in a beautiful pattern!

A note from our team

T

hank you to everyone who joined in our second annual KAL! We tried something a little different this year and designed a pattern of our very own for this year’s KAL and it was quite the adventure. It has been lovely to see all of the completed Temperance shawls and all of the excitement to knit with Mechita or Sock. What better way to introduce new colors of Sock than with a new pattern, a fun KAL and lots of our friends knitting along with us? From the yarn shops, to the Zoom sessions, to the Facebook Groups and even our very own Ravelry group, it has been an absolute delight getting to know you all better and such a joy to knit along with each and every single one of you. We truly hope that you all had as much fun knitting along with us as we have had knitting along with you. The Temperance Shawl KAL provided a time to really let your personalities shine through your color selections and it tested our determination to knit up to the very end, even during some

rather tedious pattern sections. Your tenacity and dedication paid off and hopefully everyone is enjoying their finished (or nearly finished!) shawls. Thank you all again for knitting along with us! Congratulations to all of the prize winners but truly, congratulations to each and every single knitter who joined this journey in some form-whether to cheer on another knitter, to provide insight about a color choice, or to simply help out another knitter who was stuck, you all should be so proud of yourselves and what you accomplished in just a month. While this is good-bye to the Temperance KAL, hopefully this is Hello to a beautiful new friendship and we cannot wait to knit with you again soon.

H

ow long have you been working at malabrigo?

I have been with malabrigo for 4 years but before moving to Uruguay I lived in Australia for 26 years. I moved there with my family when I was young and completed my studies and profession there. It was a big change moving back to Uruguay, especially having a teenage son but I am happy to be here and am grateful for the experiences I had in Australia, it is an amazing place. I have spoken with customers who have family there and it is always lovely to have a chat about it.

working in customer service for over 20 years and it is something I love doing, love solving problems and helping as much as possible. Even though we don’t see each other everyday we have group conversations daily and we try to be connected with our work. Which part of your job is a challenge for you? In some reports and statistics I am not really good at but try to learn and give it my best, but in all honesty math is not my strongest field! What’s your favorite color and favorite yarn?

What are your duties and responsibilities? I mainly look after the orders and enquiries for USA and Canada but recently I have taken over the processing of payments as well so some days can be a bit of a challenge but have the support of my colleagues and I quite enjoy busy days. What does a typical work day look like? Has it changed with the pandemic? First thing in the morning I do the web orders, throughout the day I try to answer all emails and later afternoon I process the payments of the orders. The work hasn’t changed much due to the pandemic but we don’t work from the office every day so I do miss seeing the girls and having normal conversations. Which part of your job do you enjoy the most? I am well known for talking too much!! but I can’t help it! I have been

I like all greens and my favorite is Mechita, I have a shawl in the office and even though the yarn is thin it always feels warm to me. It reminds me of a grandma hug! Do you knit or crochet? I don’t do either but crochet is something that I would like to learn. When I was younger I did a few items in cross stitch and used to like it quite a bit. Could you tell us an anecdote in malabrigo? Every trip has one as I am a bit of a n explorar and have come across many stories to tell but I guess one Tobias likes to tell is when I had dinner with a homeless person. First TNNA while the chooks went to sleep I went out to meet Cleveland and loved the place! They have a little church in a corner that is so beautiful. Night came and I sat down to have a bite and this person asked me if he could have the

leftovers, he was well dressed and polite so I asked him if he wanted to sit down with me. down with me. He sat at the table next to me and we had a buffalo pizza as I always wanted to try the famous buffalo... GOD IT WAS HOT!!! he laughed as I had tears coming down, we spoke for a few hours and told me his stories. To me it was an experience. I have also had lunch with customers, taken a $2 bus and been on it for hours seeing the bay (it was much cheaper than the tour bus!). On another trip I saw a soccer team well known here and had photos with them, my husband nearly died and he was telling me the names. He loves the team and tells everyone I have photos with such and such persons. Tobias laughs as he tells me I probably have seen more of the state than him but I love to walk, meet people, places, drink and eat! I am not the quiet one and am forever grateful to all the opportunities this family has given me and also to all our customers and reps that with the years they have shown me a lot of love, being away from my family it means a lot to me and to them.
