Egg-cellence is not an Accident
This summer a team of five Year 12 pupils, Niels B, Paul E, Zayan H, Luigi G, and Ferdinand B, known as the ‘Malvernauts’, attended the national final of the UK Youth Rocketry Challenge at the British Model Flying Association’s headquarters. The Malvernauts were set the challenge of launching an egg 250m into the air and bringing it safely back to the ground without breaking it. The team successfully launched their egg 253m into the air but unfortunately were disqualified as their parachute became entangled and did not fully deploy. Despite this, the Malvernauts’ performance at the national final demonstrated a great achievement as they have been designing and testing their rocket throughout the school year. Furthermore, during the final our students had to present and justify their design and engineering choices, and their presentation was awarded full marks!
