Please find above the cover of the official Christmas card for 2018. The photograph of Malvern College by Jan Sedlacek: www.digitlight.co.uk is taken from a drone with the gentle morning sun shining from the East on the school. When one sees a picture of this nature, one must reflect that it is hardly surprising that a journalist, Thalia Thompson, writing in Independent School Parents recently identified Malvern as one of the five most enchanting and beautiful schools in the country. I write principally today to wish

Music Update Our musicians have been very busy recently with the Advent Carol Service involving our Chamber and Chapel Choirs as well as our own Carol Service. The Christmas Concert was a superb evening featuring the Orchestra, a Percussion Ensemble, the Jazz Band, the Chamber Orchestra, the Concert Band and the Chapel and Chamber Choirs, along with the winners of the House Singing competition (No.8) and the runners-up (No.2).

Upper Sixth: Hanna Gesang In introducing the Academic Honour Roll for the Autumn Term of 2018, I want to emphasise that being on this roll is not so difficult as to be out of the reach of most Malvernians. Well done to those who have reached that level this term:

MALVERN TIMES Drama Production - Wolf Hall It was really exciting to see the Rogers Theatre in its full splendour as the venue for a wonderful production of Wolf Hall, a play brilliantly adapted from the Hilary Mantel historical novel and carefully crafted by our Director of Drama, Mr Keith Packham, for our Malvern audience. There were some stirring lead performances from Ariana Davison, Otty Wyatt, Olivia Hyde, Lucie Fletcher, Harrison Hudson and Bonnie Green and they were well supported by an excellent ensemble cast of Ellen Berry, Toon de Melker, George Advani, Laura Browne, Lexie Clarke, Jonny Mather, Jack Yeoward, Otty Thomas, Lottie Bulley, Lara Davidson, Morgann McGee, Missy Hingley, Ani King, Oli Doherty, Syuzanna Avanesova, Bea Barnes, Boo Forbes, Jasmine Ellis, Nicholas Wilson, Harry Graydon, Oliver Beer, Eve Leslie, Ella Cooper and Gia Neath. Basil MarsdenSmedley, Daniel Cheng, Arthur de Brabandere and Emma Raycraft provided the technical support.

Our Rugby players faced St Edward’s, Oxford, in their penultimate match of the season and performed creditably. At 1st XV level, we have tended to lack the fire power of other teams and their speed and agility, but have worked tremendously hard and there have been some special moments over the past months. Teddies beat us 36-5 in the top game whilst at U14A level we won 45-0. The U14A team deserve special congratulations on winning eight out of ten of their fixtures.

to us under the auspices of the OSCAR Foundation which has given them a new outlook on the world. Several of our pupils (Beatriz Cunningham, Ariana Davison, Millie Cox, Amber Anderson, Brenda Asein and Jasmine Jain) set about securing meaningful financial support for them through our school community and raised the magnificent sum of £10,647 as a very significant contribution to the ongoing well-being of the girls.

Golf Izzy Lloyd competed in the Junior European Open Golf Championships in Spain over a week and it was an amazing achievement for her to come 11th in a field drawn from the very best young female golfers in Europe. Congratulations, Izzy!
