Rugby Tour South Africa 2014

A message from the Headmaster

Touring in South Africa

When I was a schoolboy in

Touring as a rugby squad is the single best way for a developing side to move up to the next level as a team. A tour provides a tremendous environment and opportunity to get to know your teammates and work together on the team’s strengths and weaknesses. And there is no better place to do this than South Africa where the passion for Rugby is almost as intoxicating as the beautiful scenery.

more exciting a prospect than a sports tour abroad. In my case I was able to come to England with a cricket touring side and this was a wonderful experience. So I can identify with the emotions of the current generation of boys from Malvern and I have no doubt that this tour to South Africa will be something they will remember forever. South Africa offers some wonderful opportunities for the testing opposition we will encounter. I would like to thank our hosts in South Africa for their

aged 17. We played against our neighbouring school and brought this tour to fruition. Their reward will no doubt be greeted us around the main pitch. We got thumped that day the welcome that South Africa will offer. was out there willing us on!

Rugby at Malvern Sports tours are an integral part of independent school life. I have been fortunate experience for boys and staff for many different reasons. I am very much looking forward to sharing my experiences of South Africa with the Malvern College boys that the ‘rainbow nation’ has to offer. At the same time they will have the chance the opportunity to play in what is your own mini international game of Rugby and an opportunity not to be missed. After the matches boys will be billeted with the Malvern can expect an unbeatable level of physicality in the tackle and at the breakdown. South African schoolboy Rugby is some of the most exciting Rugby to watch too – your opposition will stop at nothing to excite their many supporters.

friends and memories alike.

If you are fortunate enough to be able to be part of such a tour the experience can be life changing and one that will live with you forever. Western Cape and I am sure you will be made to feel very welcome. South though they are very different between the four white lines!
