DEAR SINDY... We asked designer Jo at @thesindyballetgirl to help with this fashion dilemma, as she shares her expert advice on how to re-pleat a pleated skirt.
Jo's Top Tip:
Don't use a mist spray on silk, nylon or acetate satin fabrics.
... please show me how to revive my pleats! How to re-pleat pleats:
Iron out the original pleats. Starting from the top where the original pleat is secure, fold new pleats following the pattern and pin in place at the hem. Tack each pleat at the hem with small stitches to secure. Dampen skirt with a mist spray, then place a cloth support inside the skirt and press with warm iron. Leave to cool completely. Remove the tacking and tada - your pleats are back in place!
