First, it communicates to consumers that you use good business practices, are reputable, care about your customers, and are involved in our community. Second, when consumers know that a small business is a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, they are 80% more likely to purchase goods or services from that company in the future. Think about that... 80% more likely to do business with you in the future! Because of you and your investment in your business and in our Chamber, we are able to make a measurable difference both in the success of businesses and in the quality of life in Manatee County. We foster a greater sense of community, offer more than 100 programs and initiatives to support local businesses, engage thousands of people to make stronger connections with one another, drive awareness of issues, identify and train emerging leaders, and advocate on behalf of small business. 2014 marks the Manatee Chamber’s 125th Anniversary. We have been working to build a positive business environment while enhancing our community’s quality of life in many different ways for 125 years. We have evolved over time (and with a few different names) to become the largest Chamber in the Tampa Bay region with more than 2,000 members representing 76,000+ employees. The Manatee Chamber serves as the largest business voice in our region working on your behalf each and every day... and investment in the Chamber starts at just $1 a day for our smallest businesses.

What's in It for Me? The benefits of your Manatee Chamber membership are numerous. In fact, the list is so long that it can be difficult to know where to start. We know that some Chamber member benefits will be more important to you than others and our staff and dedicated volunteers are here to help you navigate through. There are benefits that are universal - and really don't require you to do anything more than renew your Manatee Chamber membership each year. Your membership conveys credibility and stability to your customers and we are proud to promote your business in numerous ways - all so that you can go about the critical business of running your business!

"I'm Thinking This is Just for the Big Guys" We provide every member with access and visibility, strategic networking, powerful advocacy, and a commitment to creating our region’s next generation of leaders. We recognize the importance of small business and provide numerous opportunities specifically designed for our small business members. Here is just a sampling:

Manatee Chamber of Commerce February Current 2014

Your Chamber Membership? • A Voice for You in the Halls of Government - Our public policy and governmental advocacy is focused on free enterprise, regulatory issues, economic growth, funding/taxes, education/job training and so much more. These are issues that affect your bottom line and we are here to represent the voice of business. • CEO Roundtables - Small business owners, CEOs and top-level managers can greatly benefit from a confidential group with whom they can share ideas, brainstorm on challenges and act as a peer group of advisors. This newest program of the Manatee Chamber has quickly become a differentiator for participating businesses. • Manatee Business Academy - The Chamber offers a large number of seminars, trainings and guest speaker events at very low cost to allow members and their employees to receive top-notch training opportunities and information. • Press Release Tool – This members-only benefit is one of our most-used member tools. It gives you a quick and easy way to share your good news with more than 100 area media contacts. • Free Networking Events – The Manatee Chamber offers multiple free networking events (morning, noon & night) for our network-savvy members. Many organizations charge for these types of monthly events, but the Manatee Chamber offers these to our members at no additional cost. And, remember that your membership investment means that ALL of your employees are welcome to attend. • Business Showcase Events – We offer two unique events each year that provide the opportunity for our small business members to showcase their products or services. For a nominal fee, small businesses have an effective platform to reach new customers and make personal, one-on-one connections. • Small Business of the Year Awards – This signature event honors the innovative small businesses in our community and brings significant recognition to the winners and our entire small business community.

We're Here to Help You Maximize Your Membership We know that your first priority is running your business. We get that and we thank you for all that you do to create and preserve jobs in our community. Because of your investment, the Manatee Chamber is working on your behalf every day! Guest Speaker Luncheon

Friday, February 14, 2014 • 11:30 to 1:00 PM Renaissance on 9th Ballroom • 1816 9th Street West, Bradenton

Speaker: Dr. Matt Kroenig

$25 Manatee Chamber & Paid MYP Members; $35 Non-Members Reservations required to Lisa at 941-748-4842, ext. 123 or LisaR@ManateeChamber.com.

Join us to find out what’s really happening in the Middle East from our distinguished speaker Dr. Matt Kroenig, as seen on CNN. U.S. policy on Iran's steadily advancing nuclear program is a critically important national security issue that evokes strong passions on all sides. Whether opponents like it or not, the military option is being seriously considered in high-level policy circles in Washington D.C. and outside analysts have a responsibility to fully debate the merits of this course of action in order to inform these ongoing discussions. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear from this dynamic expert and find out what’s really happening with Iran’s nuclear program …the sanctions, the negotiations, Israel’s role. Dr. Kroenig is Associate Professor and International Relations Field Chair in the Department of Government at Georgetown University and a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security at the Atlantic Council. He is a former adviser on Iran policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the author of "A Time to Attack: The Looming Threat of Iran's Nuclear Program" (forthcoming 2014). His articles on U.S. national security policy have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and many other outlets. SPONSORS:

Fall Highlights of Leadership Manatee October and November were busy months for the 2013-14 Leadership Manatee class. The month of October began with Education Day and numerous tours of public, private and alternative learning institutions. Later in the month, during Land Use and Transportation Day, the class flew (figuratively) over to the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport for presentations on the most current transportation information. Thanks to Schroeder-Manatee Ranch for sponsoring a delicious lunch-and-learn at the Ranch Grill with President Rex Jensen. Finally, the class ended their day participating

in a land use mock hearing facilitated by the Manatee County Planning and Permitting Department. In late October, the class participated in Escape to Reality, an outdoor team-building initiative. The activities involved in Escape to Reality are both enlightening and entertaining – a unique medium for personal discovery. November not only ushered in some milder temperatures, but also some great activities for the Leadership Manatee class. During Agriculture Day, the class explored the roots of Manatee County and the economic impact of our agricultural
