Lakewood Ranch Medical Center has received
FuLL aCCReditation With PCi from the
Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC)
More than five million Americans visit hospitals each year with chest pain.* Prompt, technologically advanced coronary intervention can make all the difference for those who may be experiencing a heart attack. The Accredited Chest Pain Center at Lakewood Ranch has demonstrated its expertise and commitment to quality patient care with a protocol-driven approach that enables physicians to reduce time to treatment during critical early stages of a heart attack, and to better monitor patients while it is still unclear if they are having a coronary event. An Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) designates Lakewood Ranch as a hospital where PCI is the primary intervention strategy for the treatment of acute heart attack. This ensures that patients receive rapid treatment to minimize damage to the heart muscle, re-establishing blood flow. Lakewood Ranch offers a comprehensive range of cardiac services, including such diagnostic services as heart catheterization, peripheral angiography, stress testing, echocardiography and EKG. From diagnosis to recovery, Lakewood Ranch is your accredited hospital for cardiovascular care.

Customer Service Is Our Top Priority A Message from County Administrator, Ed Hunzeker
County Administrator Ed Hunzeker
For most people the words “local government” probably don’t conjure images of top notch customer service. But for the past seven years, those of us at Manatee County Government have made quality customer service to you, our customers – Manatee residents, business owners and visitors – our top priority. More often than not, local government services run in the background of daily life: There’s a safe, reliable source of drinking water available thanks to around-the-clock customer service of our Utility Department. Road repair crews, traffic engineers and other Public Works professionals dedicate their entire careers to keeping local roads safe, traffic lights operating and storm drains clear of debris. And though you might take it for granted, you probably rest easier each night knowing paramedics or law enforcement will help you through your emergency at any time of day. All it takes is a call to 9-1-1 operator, who’s standing by ready to help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Bradenton area was recently named Florida’s “most satisfying” place to live. We couldn’t agree more. Our quality of life is second to none. We’d like to think part of that satisfaction is thanks to the friendly, customer service-driven government we’ve created at Manatee County. We live here. We work here. We’re your neighbors. We’ve forged strong relationships with the Manatee Chamber of Commerce by placing a sincere emphasis on customer service in Manatee County. We appreciate the honor and privilege to serve this great community!
Center. Each year this two-person team fields more than 31,000 requests for service or information from around Manatee County. They are courteous and committed to finding help for your issue. Feel free to call them for help at (941) 742-5800.
If you or your business have a request for service or information, our front line for customer service is the Citizens Action

Call Michele at 941-748-4842, ext. 116
The Manatee Chamber's Better Business Council (BBC) recently unveiled its brand new logo. The symbol of the BBC has gone through many changes over the past 39 years, but the mission statement remains the same. This fresh new look still stands for integrity and consumer trust, as more than 450 member businesses continue their dedication toward strengthening public confidence in their business through the promotion of high standards of business ethics. We encourage BBC members to use the logo in all their promotional material, on websites and in all advertising. Many consumers look for the BBC logo when hiring a business. BBC membership continues to grow as businesses recognize the value in positive exposure and how it can help their business grow. Members of the BBC have agreed to certain terms and conditions including clarification and confirmation of required licensing and insurance. In addition, they have agreed to uphold the code of ethics of the BBC. If you have not received the “BBC Proud Member” logo electronically, or wish to join the Chamber’s Better Business Council, please contact Tina West, Manager, at 941-748-1325 or TinaW@ManateeChamber.com.

Congratulations! The Manatee Chamber of Commerce named its 2014 Champions of Healthcare at a gala awards breakfast on April 17, 2014. More than 300 people attended the awards event in Lakewood Ranch to honor more than 70 nominees, 22 finalists and nine award winners. "Once again this year, we received tremendous support for the Champions of Healthcare Awards," said Jacki Dezelski, executive vice president for the Manatee Chamber of Commerce. "These awards celebrate the important work so many people, programs, business and institutions are doing in Manatee County to support healthcare access and delivery, particularly work that is above and beyond anyone's 'day job.' The awards are designed to recognize impact, excellence and dedication. After just two years, the Champions of Healthcare Awards has become a signature program and this year's sell-out event is a testament to the amazing work being done in our community." Plans are already underway for next year's awards program and it is not too early to begin thinking about nominating a deserving individual, organization, business or program for the awards. It's also not too early to secure your sponsorship for the 2015 Champions of Healthcare Awards. Please contact Jacki Dezelski at 941-748-4842, ext. 131.

Member Testimonial from
Tara Poulton Southwest Florida Water Management District "I've had the opportunity to participate in the Manatee Chamber's Legislative Trip to Tallahassee for the last two years. The Chamber always does a fantastic job lining up appointments and scheduling meetings, not only with our local delegation, but with other elected officials and key organizations including the Florida Chamber, the Florida Department of Transportation and Enterprise Florida, for the latest information on issues affecting Manatee County. As the Government Affairs Program Manager for the Southwest Florida Water Management District, this opportunity is extremely beneficial for me. Serving as the liaison for the District, I work closely with our local government officials on a daily basis and it’s crucial that I keep myself informed on all future projects planned for our area as well as the challenges our region faces compared to the rest of the state. Building on the relationships that I have made through the Manatee Chamber and its Legislative Committee has not only strengthened my skills but it’s also increased my knowledge base allowing me to do the best job I can, everyday."

It all started back in 1956, where a storefront called Mike’s Subs served up exceptional quality submarine sandwiches in the beach town of Point Pleasant, New Jersey. In 1987, it was renamed Jersey Mike's Subs to capture the authenticity of where the authentic sub sandwich was born. Today, that authentic taste – served Mike's Way® with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, oil, vinegar and spices – is available nationwide. Our secret? Everything about Jersey Mike’s is high quality. Our certified Angus Beef top rounds are trimmed and cooked right in the store. Our meats and cheeses are all top-quality premium brands. Our bread is fresh-baked each day on the premises. And of course, everything’s prepared right in front of you. It’s what makes Jersey Mike’s the most authentic tasting submarine sandwich available. And it’s a tradition of quality we’ll never outgrow.
