If only Santa had been aware of the OSHA Code of Federal Regulations! His employer, the North Pole Corporation, wouldn’t have a rap sheet like this: OSHA §1910.146(c)(4) which states: ...the employer (North Pole Corporation) shall develop and implement a written permit space program... and OSHA §1910.146(d)(2) which states: Identify and evaluate the hazards of permit spaces before employees (Santa & Elves) enter them... and §1910.146(d)(3) which states: Develop and implement the means, procedures, and practices necessary for safe permit space entry operations... and §1910.146(d)(5) which states: Evaluate permit space conditions when entry operations are conducted... and §1910.146(d)(6) which states: Provide at least one attendant (Elf) outside the permit space... and §1910.146(d)(9) which states: Develop and implement procedures for summoning rescue and emergency services (Elves), for rescuing entrants (Santa) from permit spaces... Not to mention insufficient PPE and Fall Protection!
Have a safe holiday season!
