Dear Readers, Well the phone calls have already started - the visitors booking their “hols” for the year. Each year we say “no more” but then go ahead and provide a fantastic holiday for them! It´s the price we pay for being popular! However despite the credit crunch and the tangle of beaurocracy here in Spain, we must not lose sight of the fact that we do actually live in a beautiful country, with fantastic beaches, mountains, cities and towns. This month´s article on Diving in Spain has really opened my eyes to the diving opportunities in our region and we hope to bring you more local issues in the April issue. Mother´s Day (UK) is on the 22nd March so take the opportunity to show your Mum how much you care by taking her out for a meal. Try one of the restaurants listed in our Restaurant Guide and don´t forget to tell them where you saw their advert! Happy Reading,

Starring Uma Thurman (Prime), Colin Firth (Bridget Jones’ Diary) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Grey’s Anatomy, PS I Love You), The Accidental Husband poses the dilemma that every nervous bride-to-be would rather not encounter – is Mr Right in fact Mr Wrong? What if Mr Wrong is already Mr Right? New York firefighter Patrick Sullivan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) had no idea his idyllic life was about to go up in smoke — especially as the unwitting, second-hand recipient of advice from famed love expert and radio host Dr. Emma Lloyd (Uma Thurman). One day he is a happy-go-lucky guy looking forward to a life with his soon-to-bebride. Then, his fiancée Sophia (Justina Machado) is seeking couples counseling on the radio from Dr.

4 Town & Country

Lloyd. The no-nonsense, ever practical Dr. Lloyd questions Sophia’s concept of romantic love and advises her to break their engagement, which she swiftly does. Patrick is upset that when he hears that Emma is about to be married herself, he allows his young neighbour, an Indian computer whiz-kid to hack into public records and create a phony marriage between himself and Emma, because he wants to force a confrontation. Emma is told she cannot marry her perfect-gentleman fiancé, Richard (Colin Firth), because she is already married. She has no choice but to confront Patrick, who decides to repeatedly lie to her about his intentions. In fact, after stringing her along with lie upon lie, he finds out that he fancies her, and makes a play for her romantically. He proceeds to inject himself into her life, causes her to have to lie herself, to her beloved fiancé. Emma is drawn to his immense charisma but tries to ignore it. Emma needs Patrick’s help desperately because he has to sign the annulment papers so that she can marry Richard. Patrick delays this

process long enough so that he can get enough time to spend with Emma. At one point, Patrick acts as her fiancee Richard and Emma doesn’t deny the pretense because of some people watching them while tasting a wedding cake. Unknown to Emma, one of the ladies there happens to be the wife of a man Richard is doing business with. This particular man decides to stop his deals with Richard and is planning to tell him in so during a banquet where both Richard and Emma are attending. This lady (after finding out her husband’s plans) meets Emma during the banquet and tells her of the same. Emma wants to save Richard’s business, but she is in a dilemma because the lady believes Patrick to be Richard. It so happens that Patrick arrives there at the banquet. Not knowing what else to do, Emma continues to pretend that Patrick is her fiancee Richard and that Richard is her brother Karl. Matters get worse when Patrick and Emma are invited to dinner with Richard’s business partner and his wife. But the funny side is that Patrick charms the businessman so much that he decides to change his decision and continue business with “Richard”. Later, Emma and Patrick go to dinner with the businessman. Patrick then takes them on a surprise visit to a special event. Patrick stays with an Indian family and is quite close to them. They support and encourage him through his difficult times. It is to a Hindu initiation ceremony that Patrick takes Emma and the businessman’s family. The computer whiz-kid is the one getting

initiated. Emma and the other guests have a really good time there, and it is there that she sees a whole new side of Patrick, who had been repulsive to her so far. There is a slight spark of attraction, but Emma flees the scene before anything else can happen. Patrick continues to pursue her later, and even comes to visit her in her radio studio. There they have a confrontation and then board a lift, continuing their argument. Suddenly Patrick asks the other occupants of the lift to leave and they do so after seeing his fireman’s badge. He then locks the lift and then proceeds to kiss Emma. They have quite a passionate time, not knowing that they are being viewed by the security staff on the camera at the top of the lift. Soon Emma can not deny her attraction to Patrick anymore and decides to call off her wedding. She goes to Patrick’s lodgings and they make love that night. It is only the next morning that she finds out that Patrick had been keeping tabs on her and stalking her. Patrick then confesses that he had initially wanted to teach her a lesson about love but then fell for her. She is so hurt that he had been using her. She then goes back to the honorable Richard, who still loves her and says that she wants to marry him. Richard tells Patrick to leave Emma alone. Patrick also decides to let Emma go because by this point, he feels he will always have to question her resolve and honesty. We wont tell you any more as this would spoil the movie for you - but you will LOVE it!.

CORAL REEFS Interested in doing some scuba diving in Spain? Want to know when & where to go scuba diving in Spain? Here we’ve put together some of the best information you need to know about scuba diving in Spain. Spain is a fantastic scuba diving destination. With more than 4000km of shoreline Spain provides excellent choices for scuba diving. Spain has extensive shorelines on the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea providing excellent yet different scuba diving experiences.

Mediterranean scuba diving Scuba diving in the Mediterranean is an incredible experience because of the different dive sites on this side of Spain. The warm Mediterranean water around Spain also makes scuba diving a more comfortable experience. The Mediterranean coastline of Spain is well equipped with many Scuba diving companies that offer scuba diving tours to various sites around the Mediterranean waters of Spain. The majority of these scuba diving companies are staffed by fluent English speakers and are perfectly capable of dealing with English tourists wanting to learn scuba diving.

8 Town & Country

These Scuba diving schools have fully qualified diving instructors who can teach you internationally accredited scuba diving courses.

Scuba diving - Costa Brava The Costa Brava in Spain is one of the premier scuba diving and sailing destinations on the Mediterranean coast. The Illes Medes are a series of small islands that are popular with scuba diving enthusiasts because of the vast and varied marine life that can be seen there. This place became a protected site in the 1980’s and since then over 1000 species of animal & marine life have been found thus making it a popular scuba diving destination.

Atlantic scuba diving Although the Atlantic Coast of Spain is one of the most popular surfing spots in Europe, scuba diving in the Atlantic Ocean from Spain is less popular with tourists and therefore less developed. Scuba diving tour operators here don’t always speak English; however, this shouldn’t stop scuba diving aficionados from experiencing the different scuba diving sites this side of Spain has to offer. Main scuba diving centres on the Atlantic side of

Spain are San Sebastian and A Coruna. Be aware that the Atlantic waters are colder than the Mediterranean and that one will probably need a full wet suit when Scuba diving here.

Scuba diving in Murcia Water temperature rarely falls below 17ºC (thermocline) and water surface temperature can reach 28ºC in late summer but in winter can drop to 14ºC. Water visibility is within a range of 10-20m. Amongst many other species, our all year round residents include octopus, moray and conger eels, cuttlefish, anthias, damselfish, groupers, scorpion fish, ‘corvinas’, goat fish, crabs, blenies, nudibranchs, and so on. If you are lucky electric rays, eagle reays, schools of barracuda (specially in summer), the famous mola-mola (sunfish) and from time to time bottle-nose dolphins can be seen on the way to the dive site. There are as well some small wrecks and night dives are great. There are other well known dive destinations in Murcia like Cabo de Palos (100 km north), La Zohia (55 Km north) and going down to Almeria you can dive in Mojacar (50 Km south) and Carboneras (70Km south).

Horoscopes - March Aries

Taurus

Gemini

It’s time to revise your plans and put off new initiatives until you have more confidence in them. Others may not be getting you--perhaps misunderstanding your intentions--for the time being. A partner may be distant. A New Moon on the 26th brings new discoveries and a feeling of newness to your life. Still, take your time before moving forward. Use the time for budgeting rather than buying.

Matters from the past creep up and demand your attention. This is a good month in which to solve old problems and finally lay them to rest. Nevertheless, your public or professional life is quite busy . Despite your inclination towards retreat and rest, your social agenda is hectic. There is bound to be some drama in your romantic life. A lover needs some attention.

Some complications surrounding friends and lovers are quite possible this month, and you’re likely to find these people in your life dredging up old issues. Give others space. There’s a lot of activity on the career front. Family matters grab your attention and surprising events and communications occur through your work. There is excitement surrounding a travel opportunity.

Cancer

Leo

Virgo

There are some wonderful and perhaps surprising opportunities that have to do with legal affairs, travel, or education this month. Nevertheless, complications and setbacks are likely, but are only temporary. Career matters could be causing you some concern, but try not to fret over details.

Your close personal relationships continue to take center stage in your life this month. A close partner could seem a little mysterious or even elusive, but this only serves to intrigue you more. It’s a good month for deepening a connection, but travel, legal, or educational plans may not be moving forward at the speed you’d like them to be. Likely, money shared, borrowed, or loaned will be big topics on the table now.

The month begins with a strong focus on your health and work routine. You could be digging up interesting information now, and there is likely to be quite a fuss over it. The focus turns to a close partnership or friendship, when a special someone could be putting his/her cards on the table and some care should be taken in all love matters this month.

Libra

Scorpio

Sagittarius

Work matters become increasingly into focus, and you are feeling more introspective. It’s not that you lack confidence, but you tend to recognize the need to look within for answers. Questioning your plans is likely, and in fact quite necessary. A close partner may be distant or hard to read. For now, try not to push matters (or others). Give them space, and give yourself space as well.

You’re moving towards a more playful and fun frame of mind. Romantic surprises are likely and there could also be surprising turns of events surrounding creative projects, children, and family matters during these periods. Invitations to go out and have some fun should be grabbed. With love matters some care is necessary when it comes to a close partnership.

This continues to be a busy time, after which life settles down a tad. While there are bound to be some surprises on the home front, your focus is on settling in and keeping the peace. There is the culmination of an important work project or a scurry of activity on the job. Events occur that highlight your responsibilities in your professional life.

Capricorn

Aquarius

Pisces

You need continued attention to your personal finances and you have big ideas about how to increase your income. While you will continue to brainstorm about money-making endeavors, your attention also turns to learning, communicating, and networking. It´s time to reassess love matters.

This is a busy time for you. You are getting a lot of attention, and others are turning to you for advice. Money matters become a big focus and unanticipated events surrounding your personal finances are likely. Responsibilities to others become hard to ignore. There is also a strong period for enhancing or attracting a close partnership.

This is a strong month for reassessing your finances and making a budget but it’s not a favorable time for making important purchases. If you do make a big outlay, you are likely to regret it next month, so hold off if you can for the time being. It’s better to hold on to your money now. A partner has your wants and needs in mind, and work matters are favored.

Horoscopo - Marzo Aries

Tauro

Would You Like to Enjoy an Extra Months Pension This Year? I am always searching for a policy or service that will assist my clients in many different ways. With the pound so weak against the euro, it got me thinking about currency exchange and the people who are bringing in a pension every month and how difficult it must be to budget. There are also those who are paying a mortgage with their sterling and others who bring an income, not always on a monthly basis. It must be particularly tough for those receiving pensions, whether those pensions are private or the UK Government pension. My company has been working alongside a very large and secure Currency Exchange company for a while now. I understand the clients who are now placing their sterling with them are more than pleased with the service and rates given to them. I hope this article will help in understanding a little the complex nature of currency rates, and why you may not be receiving the best rate possible. This despite companies informing you that you are and no charges are being levied against you. When your UK pension is paid directly overseas, the chances are that your pension provider transfers your sterling via a third party. It is the 3rd party that will make the conversion to euros before the money arrives in your overseas account. More often than not, this third party will be a bank. For example, the forces Pension is paid by Xafinity Paymaster through Citibank, and the Civil service pension scheme is paid through the Bank of Scotland TAPS system (Transcontinental Payment System). Because banks do not specialise in foreign exchange, their transfer fees are usually high and their rates poor. In many cases, the rate is 2-3% less than pensioners could achieve elsewhere. They are only given the rate available at the time of transfer, with no option to ‘lock’ into better rates when sterling is strong against the Euro. To top it all, receiving banks charges (the deduction banks make for handling the transaction) can be as much as t20 euros per payment. The only saving grace is that the pension provider may have negotiated a lower fee for actually making the transfer. But even then, the recipient is probably getting less money than they should be. The situation is often made worse if your pension is paid in sterling and you arrange your transfers directly with the bank. In addition to poor exchange rates and receipt charges, the average cost for transferring rates and receipt charges, the average cost for transferring your euros is 25 euros per payment ( despite what you may be told) and again , there is no option to lock into favourable rates. Finally, most banks do not have an

automated process for regular payments, so you are required to arrange your transfers every month via telephone and internet banking. So in summary, the problem is 3 fold: poor exchange rates; receiving bank charges; and unreasonable transfer costs. At this stage you may feel that you are receiving the best that is available, just one question I will ask. What if the information you have been told is not quite correct. Can you afford to ignore this possibility, when every euro is so vital? The solution to this, could be via the company I have chosen to work with, who specialise in foreign exchange and regular international payments They fully understand the needs of people making regular currency payments, never forgetting those who need to transfer funds as and when. In a nutshell. The Regular Payment Plan makes you money go further by in the first instance being able to offer better variable rates than a bank can, as well as fixed exchange rates, The process is fully automated, having recently invested over one and a half million Euros in the latest technology. Features include automated Direct debit, so if your pension is paid into your UK Sterling account, they can automatically debit funds on the day of your choice. If your pension is paid directly by your pension provider, they can receive the money from them and make the transfer. Because of the fully automated system , making them the best in the business, they can offer multiple frequencies, so that the regular Payment Plan can operate on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi -annual or annual basis. This service and options, I am sure, is unbeatable. The other option you can select is a fixed plan option. This I understand was offered to many clients when the rate was at a dizzy height, many chose to lock into 145 but sadly many ignored the advice given assuming it was just a sales gimmick. Now of course I am sure they are regretting this decision. It will, however, always be on offer, for when the rate once again becomes attractive enough to be locked in from six months or up to two years. The process is all fully automated, so every month you can relax in the knowledge that your transfers are taken being care of. Another bonus is the transfer fees are some of the lowest around, with support from their dedicated team with over fifteen years experience. In all, a very good package, which you need to find out more about. Can you afford not to? Jayne in the Javea office is the specialist in all money matters, and works very closely with the companies, however all our offices can handle your enquires.
