The 6 Rules You Need to Know About Training

THE 6 RULES YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TRAINING 1. CONSISTENCY Whether technical or physical, your progress will not be instantaneous and your practice will take several months. Set a reasonable pace in your training, do not be too ambitious and try to stick to it.

2. FREQUENCY Increase your number of weekly workout sessions to increase the efficiency of your time spent in the gym. It’s difficult to see improvements with one session per week, even if you’re working out for 2 hours at a time. A better scenario would be to do three short sessions of 40 to 45 minutes, well distributed during the week. 3. VARIETY Doing the same thing over and over can often lead to a lack of motivation. Try doing a different workout each session. Focus more on a weekly schedule. It’s always better to incorporate the types of workouts you like. 4. IMPROVEMENT Always working out at the same level of difficulty/intensity will not push you to improve your performance. On the other hand, it is important to allow the body time to adapt to a more demanding training load. The key to successful training is to find a balance by gradually increasing the level of difficulty by incrementally adjusting work volume (weight and reps) and/or intensity. 5. TEST Measuring the progress of your workouts is important. Write down the results to track your progress over time. Improvements can also act as a source of motivation! 6. ALTERNATING RECOVERY / EXERCISE It’s after your workout, during the period of rest, that your body will recover and strengthen. Recovery is essential for your body to adapt to stress and for you to be ready for your next workout. Finishing your workout with a cool-down consisting of a few stretching exercises is important. Also try to keep hydrated and get enough sleep every day to maximize your recovery between sessions. Have you benefited from a consult with a personal trainer on our team? We’re looking forward to guiding you towards achieving your goals!
