Hello, I am Mansi. I am currently a final year student in Product Design. I am currently looking for summer internship. I love to create clean, smart and effective objects which has problem solving abilities. My approach towards design is based on creativity and practicality. I believe a good design is a design which is organized makes the task performed easier. To me making the render of the product is not the only work of a product designer but the designer too needs to decide how the product will be looking on digital platforms in other words it means deciding the personality of the product.

MAKE TRAVELLING EASIER 4 Week Project
About the project Travellers are someone, who requires to boil water and make ready to eat food for themselves. Their main need is to have both cooking and boiling efficiently in a single kettle with the ease of cleaning. Keeping in mind, the shape needs to be luggage friendly as well as it should not consume much space and most important ease of cleaning.

Generally, there are two types of Electic kettle : 1) Water boiling kettle (small opening mouth) 2) Cooking kettle (bigger opening mouth) Materials 1) Glass 2) Plastic 3) Stainless steel The cooking kettle has a put on lid whereas, the boiling kettle a push button to open and close the lid. Mostly, travellers preffer stainless steel electric kettle as it has no harm to the item inside. Many have problem in using the plastic electric kettle as it is said that plastic releases BPA into items inside it. Some kettles do have stainless steel body inside to avoid the direct contact to item with plastic. The plastic used is mostly PP (Polypropylene) which is used for outer body , heating element casing , lids and buttons .There are other components in the electric kettle as well such as wires and heating cord (copper, zinc and brass), heating element (nicrome 20%, chromium and nickel 80%), covering heating element (mica), wire insulation (HDPE) and inner body (food grade stainless steel-grade 304).

Features of electric kettle includes Auto- turn of mechanism and Boil dry protection mechanism. Mechanism of auto- turn off and boil dry protection is controlled from a thermostat which is connected to the bimetallic strip.

Research
The concepts earlier revolved around water boiling kettle but, in the later phases the ideas were moving towards making a kettle which can comfortably perform both the functions well. The shape of the kettle is also changed and is luggage friendly as it utilises less space. Keeping in mind the cleaning problems with the electric kettle an add on container is also provided.

The final concept has an additional container which can be used while cooking. You just simply have to insert the container inside the kettle and till it does not fix the kettle won’t start working.The handle of the container is foldable. It goes inside the electric kettle.Container is washable. There is a sugar box as well which will be attached on the back side of the electric kettle with magnets. The wire get rolled inside the base which has a plastic lid cover. The handle of the electric kettle is foldable as it hasroller hinge.

About the project Designing a mandir which seems modern and should be going in almost all the environments. Should have fluent curves and to only made in lacqured glass and wood.Keeping in mind the limitations of glass working and designing a mandir.

Inspirations
The use of glass defined the shape. The inspirations was from modern design and use of led lights in mirror. Bell shapes are there on the sides. In the centre there is a figure of “OM” of the hindu culture. Set of drawers with some space of keeping the essentials. The whole product from outside is made of lacquered glass and inside is wood.
The shape was made this way to make the product easily from wood and glass. Just a basic trial to introduce some colors to the mandir and making the back area lit. There are certain use of curves. Below there is space left to keep the essentials and utensils for aarti.
This idea came up to create a new design and a new shape. Hexagon is said to be symbol of god of heaven. It’s angular structure gives equal weight on all sides . For heavy structures of god this shape is said to be very good.

GYRATE (lazy susan design) 1 Week Project
About the project This project explores various design concepts on Lazy Susan. Lazy Susan is a rotating disk with rotates on aluminum disk when, the force is applied. Mainly, people keep food items for dinner on it so that it can be easily accessible to everyone. Materials used is tinted glass and lacqured glass.
Design Brief Exploring lazy susan ideas for making it sell well by adding on certain items or improoving the design. Materials should be tinted glass and lacqured glass.

ASSEMBLY OF LAZY SUSAN The base plate is there with the holes to attach it to the bearing. Bearing is then attached to the base plate at which the top plate rotates. The top plate stands on the bearing and rotates when the spinning motion is applied to it. Most important are the screws which fix all the three parts together. PROBLEMS FACED WITH GLASS LAZY SUSAN Finishing problems Misbalancing when heavy weight Off-center of the upper glass piece Less sizes available according to you Doesn’t move smoothly Makes noises while rotating Low height so it becomes difficult to rotate
