MUSIC IS IN THE AIR
Music plays a vital role in enhancing well-being and fostering social connections among our residents. All year long, we host a variety of live entertainers, but there’s something magical about the summertime tunes that get our residents moving and lift their spirits. Our summer concert series brings t he community together, creating joyous moments and lasting memories. We love seeing families join us for the festivities—it’s fun for the whole family! These events not only entertain but also nurture a sense of camaraderie and happiness, making the summer months at Maplewood truly unforgettable.

What truly sets us apart is our dedicated and compassionate associates. We focus on attracting and retaining the very best people because having a dependable family of associates is essential to us.
Each year, we devote a special week to recognizing and celebrating our amazing team. From June 15 - 22, we shower them with fun activities, delicious food, and heartfelt gestures of appreciation. From free car washes to BBQs and ice cream trucks, it’s our way of saying thank you. We invite residents and families to join us in expressing our gratitude and celebrating the people who make our community exceptional. Let’s make this week unforgettable for our wonderful team!
SHOUT OUT TO NASIR!
Congrats to Maplewood at Newtown’s server Nasir. Nasir is Captain of the Danbury High Track Team and recently finished 2nd in the state 4 x 100 relay! He also won the Sportsmanship Award and qualified for New England Regionals. Nasir, who enjoys math and working at Maplewood, will run track at Southern CT State University. Great job, Nasir!

The Ohio Assisted Living (OALA) 2024 Honoring Excellence Awards celebrates individuals devoted to exceptional care. These awards recognize extraordinary commitment and compassion in assisted living. Congratulations to Rhonda Dwyer from Maplewood at Chardon for winning this prestigious award! We also commend our remarkable runner-ups: Annamarie Rickard, Maplewood at Chardon Morgan Iorio, Corp. At Maplewood Senior Living, dining transcends mere sustenance – it’s an experience that nourishes mind, body, and spirit. Our talented chefs recently revamped our offerings, introducing over 2,400 recipes in rotation, including 1,300 entree options.
Variety is key, with our ever-growing menu spanning classic comforts to global cuisines. From hearty home-cooked meals to delightful fusion flavors, our chefs explore diverse tastes to delight every palate. We believe sharing a delicious dish celebrates community, friendship, and life’s simple pleasures.
STAYING CONNECTED AT MAPLEWOOD AT MAPLEWOOD SENIOR LIVING
Connection to the greater community is vital for our residents’ well-being. We’re privileged to foster an environment where our residents can stay active, engaged, and give back in meaningful ways.
Knitting for a Cause at Maplewood at Strawberry Hill is one shining example. On most Saturday mornings, Abigail, Anne, Arthe, Janet, and Jerine gather to knit baby hats, donating their creations to Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport. This compassionate organization provides literacy and life skills training to low-income women.
For our veteran residents at Maplewood at Southport, this year’s Fairfield Memorial Day parade was a particularly poignant experience. Undeterred by rain, these veterans enthusiastically participated in the special community event, where they could honor fallen heroes, fellow veterans, and be honored themselves for their selfless service.

EXPANDING GERIATRIC CARE WITH AI-ENABLED ROBOTICS
Maplewood Senior Living’s Ohio communities, in partnership with Advanced Telemedicine Group, and Dr. Kathleen Rogers, Chief of Geriatric Services at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, has launched a groundbreaking pilot program utilizing AI-enabled Temi robots to revolutionize geriatric care. This innovative collaboration allows for virtual consultations, significantly enhancing accessibility and quality of care for older adults. By integrating advanced telemedicine solutions, Maplewood aims to overcome the barriers of limited local resources and ensure timely, specialized healthcare for its residents.
“The use of Temi robots marks a pivotal moment in geriatric care,” says Morgan Iorio, Corporate Director at Maplewood. “We are thrilled to offer immediate virtual visits, transforming how we deliver care to our residents.”
This initiative highlights Maplewood’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technology, demonstrating thought leadership in making geriatric care more accessible and efficient. The Temi robots, equipped with medical peripherals, enable physicians to conduct comprehensive assessments remotely, ensuring enhanced communication and improved health outcomes for older adults.
